The Commodore Hotel
Staying at The Commodore Hotel in Cape Town was an absolute highlight of our trip. Located just steps away from the bustling city center, everything we wanted—shopping, dining, and attractions—was within easy reach. The breakfast spread was fantastic: fresh, abundant, and delicious. While the room is on the smaller side, it’s impeccably clean and thoughtfully designed. Best of all? Our room had a stunning view of Table Mountain—waking up to that panoramic vista every morning felt like a dream. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely made us feel welcome. From check-in to checkout, the service was top-notch. This hotel offers excellent value for money and a truly memorable stay. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cape Town.
The Portswood Hotel
The Portswood Hotel is an outstanding choice in a fantastic location in Cape Town. The moment I arrived, I was impressed by the warm welcome and the hotel's charming atmosphere. The room was clean, spacious, and well-appointed—perfect for a relaxing stay. What truly stood out was the breakfast spread: fresh, delicious, and full of local flavors. I especially loved the homemade pastries and the perfectly brewed coffee. It made every morning feel special. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home. Highly recommend this gem—it’s the perfect base for exploring Cape Town, and I’ll definitely be returning.
Flatrock Suites
Staying at Flatrock Suites was a major disappointment. The hotel is located directly above a nightclub, and the loud music and constant laughter kept going until 6 a.m., making it nearly impossible to sleep. I booked a two-bedroom suite, but only one room had air conditioning— the other had no fan at all, which made it extremely uncomfortable in the heat. To make matters worse, the DSTV service didn’t work, and despite reaching out to the property management team, I received zero support or assistance. There were also no curtains or blinds on the main bedroom door, so sunlight flooded into the room by 5 a.m., disrupting any chance of rest. Overall, the experience was poor, with multiple basic amenities failing and no effort from staff to resolve issues. Definitely not worth it, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Friendly staff, peaceful atmosphere, and great value for money. I’d highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone visiting Cape Town. It’s definitely a place I’ll come back to.

Walking into Thirty on Grace, you're greeted with an open, welcoming atmosphere that feels more like a home than a hotel. The lush garden and sparkling pool create such a peaceful retreat right in the heart of Cape Town. Ros, the host, is absolutely wonderful—thoughtful, attentive, but never intrusive. She makes sure every need is met without ever overstepping. I loved the honesty bar—it’s so convenient and adds a nice touch of independence. The coffee machine is top-notch; perfect for morning brews. The rooms are spacious, beautifully furnished, and incredibly comfortable. It’s one of those places you instantly want to return to. If you’re looking for a stylish, relaxed stay with genuine hospitality, this is it.

But what truly stole the show was the underground whisky bar, boasting an impressive selection that would satisfy even the most discerning connoisseur. Every detail, from the ambiance to the attention to service, felt curated with care. This isn’t just a hotel—it’s an experience. 10/10 without hesitation.

The building itself feels secure with reliable entry access to the canal area—perfect for evening strolls. That said, the unit could use a deeper clean occasionally—especially around the kitchen sink, microwave, and tile grout where some buildup is noticeable. While proper laundry detergent was provided, there was no dishwasher-safe soap included, which was a small inconvenience. Overall, the value for money is solid, especially for a central location. One minor suggestion: consider reversing the fridge door’s swing direction so it opens into the kitchen rather than toward the sleeping area. It’s an easy fix with basic tools and would significantly improve daily convenience. A thoughtful upgrade that makes a big difference.
