Nearby, there’s a highly-rated restaurant called Calice—though we missed out because they were fully booked without a reservation. Still, the location is perfect for exploring. The staff are incredibly warm and welcoming, with fluent English that makes communication smooth and pleasant. The room is compact but well-designed, spotlessly clean, and features high-quality amenities from L’Occitane. While toothbrushes aren’t provided, you get complimentary disposable slippers and a free minibar. There’s also a bottle of water on the table every day, always replenished. On the ground floor, there’s an open-access area with free filtered water and coffee—perfect for a morning pick-me-up. Plus, the basement has a sauna that’s available for free with prior booking. The front desk even helps arrange taxis, which is super convenient. We stayed in a family room for three, and the small balcony overlooking the street was a nice touch for our kids. The hostess is warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful, offering great tips on local sights and activities. She even speaks a little German, which made things easier for me. While there aren’t many restaurants directly outside, a 12-minute walk up to Butte de Celles reveals a fantastic selection of affordable, authentic eateries. If you’re craving Vietnamese food, Avenue de Choisy is just 15 minutes away—packed with budget-friendly spots. There’s also a small weekend market near the tiny park where you can grab fresh fruit, cheese, and even pickled olives. For essentials, there’s a Franprix supermarket, a bio shop, and a Chinese fast-food joint just around the corner. Travelers coming from Germany can easily reach the hotel via Line 5 from Gare de l’Est, or take the RER from Gare du Nord to Cité Universitaire and then stroll down through the park toward Place de Rungis. Overall, this charming B&B delivers comfort, convenience, and a genuine Parisian touch—highly recommended!

We recently stayed at Transparent Marais for six nights and couldn’t be happier with our experience. The apartment is perfectly located—just a 10-minute walk from Hôtel de Ville, with plenty of bus options making it easy to explore all parts of Paris. The unit was spotless, well-equipped, and featured a spacious, comfortable bedroom with an amazing sleeper sofa that easily ranked as the best we’ve ever slept on. The bathroom was stylish and functional, with excellent shower pressure. Nestled in a quiet courtyard, the place offers peace and privacy without sacrificing convenience. We traveled with a young child using a wheelchair, and the only step was at the entrance to the courtyard—everything else inside the apartment and bathroom was completely level, making it ideal for guests with mobility challenges. Marc, the host, was incredibly responsive and easy to reach whenever we needed help. His hospitality made a big difference. We highly recommend this apartment and would absolutely stay here again on our next trip to Paris.
