Ashton's Bed and Breakfast

Staying at Ashton's Bed and Breakfast was an absolute delight from start to finish. From the moment we stepped into the beautifully appointed hallway, we were greeted with warmth and thoughtfulness that made us feel truly welcome. Every detail had been considered—especially the daily breakfast prepared personally by chef Patrick, a culinary highlight that set the tone for each morning. It wasn’t just a place to sleep; it felt like staying with friends who knew the city inside out. If you’re looking for authenticity, comfort, and a touch of magic in New Orleans, this is the perfect home away from home.

La Belle Esplanade

My wife and I drove down from Houston for a weekend getaway to New Orleans, and stumbled upon this hidden gem — La Belle Esplanade. From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into a storybook version of the French Quarter. The architecture is timeless, steeped in history, and the location couldn’t be better — walkable to restaurants, music venues, and all the charm of the city center. But what truly made the stay unforgettable was the hosts: a warm, thoughtful couple who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. They shared local tips on events happening that day, recommended off-the-beaten-path spots, and served breakfasts that were pure Louisiana magic — fresh, flavorful, and full of soul. Every detail, from the cozy rooms to the personalized touches, showed real care. If you're visiting New Orleans, this is not just a place to stay — it’s an experience. Worth every dollar, and absolutely worth coming back for.

Sonder at Viewpoint

I’ve been a fan of Sonder for years, and while I had a disappointing experience last year, I decided to give them another chance—especially since their reputation precedes them. This time around, they absolutely redeemed themselves. The unit was beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully designed. All three beds were comfortable, with a great variety of pillow options to suit different preferences. The high ceilings added an airy, spacious feel to what’s otherwise a narrow layout—making the rooms feel much larger than they are. The bedrooms were generous in size, and the kitchen was fully stocked with tea, salt and pepper, glassware, a complete set of dishes, utensils, cookware, and brand-new cleaning supplies. Cooking on the stainless steel gas stove was a breeze. Pro tip: use the ceiling fan—the smoke detectors are quite sensitive. The shared patio fits four people comfortably and offers a nice spot to unwind. There are several flights of stairs (no elevator), but even with a foot injury, I managed fine—though I wouldn’t recommend this for elderly guests. The location on Magazine Street is fantastic—full of charming shops, local eateries, and cozy bars. It’s easy to wander in and out of places, soak up the atmosphere, and enjoy the neighborhood vibe. Nearby, you’ll find a Walgreens, Whole Foods, and a peaceful park—all within walking distance. Overall, my stay was comfortable, clean, convenient, and truly restful. I’m already planning my return visit. Sonder continues to deliver, and I remain a loyal fan. 💛

Rodeway Inn & Suites New Orleans Gentilly

Arriving at the hotel, we were immediately disappointed by the unfriendly front desk staff. The room was directly facing the street, with windows so dirty that it was nearly impossible to see outside. Despite being advertised as a non-smoking property, the room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke—so intense that we checked out after just five minutes and paid extra for a new hotel. The location is far from downtown New Orleans, making it inconvenient for tourists. As a young couple, we found this stay extremely unsatisfying and not worth the price. It would be completely impractical for families too. Overall, a very disappointing experience with no redeeming qualities.
