Hotel San Diego

This hotel has easily been the best stay I've ever had—no exaggeration. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The location is fantastic, just a short walk from the main attractions and local restaurants. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed with modern touches. High-speed Wi-Fi worked flawlessly throughout my stay—perfect for working remotely or streaming my favorite shows. The staff went above and beyond with their friendly, attentive service; they even helped me plan a day trip to nearby sights. The only minor note? The shower pressure could be a bit stronger, but honestly, it didn’t detract from the overall experience. With such great value, unbeatable location, and top-tier hospitality, I’d book here again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Guanajuato.

Hotel Boutique Ponciano

We stayed at Hotel Boutique Ponciano in Guanajuato with my family to ring in the New Year. The location was excellent—just steps away from the event venue, which made it convenient for us. However, our experience turned out to be far from satisfactory. Right from the start, we struggled with basic amenities: the shower water was icy cold, and flow was barely noticeable—especially during winter, when you really need warmth. In another room, the sink wouldn’t drain properly, so water would just sit there after brushing teeth or washing hands—an unpleasant sight. The rooms had no heating system, and the small heater provided at reception did almost nothing to warm up the space. To make matters worse, the hotel has no parking facilities and offered no alternative solutions. For the first two nights, we had to pay $25 per hour at a nearby private lot—costing us a fortune. Later, we noticed a free public street parking spot right outside the hotel. We parked there and confirmed with local traffic authorities that tourists are allowed to use such spaces. Despite this, the hotel owner called us late one evening demanding we move the car immediately, claiming his presence required the spot. When we explained it was public parking and confirmed by officials, he dismissed us, threatening to remove our plates if we didn’t comply. We were frightened—not wanting to risk conflict with someone who likely had local connections—so we moved the car. Later, we returned with a traffic officer present, who confirmed the parking was perfectly legal. Still, we felt pressured into compliance due to intimidation tactics. Beyond the poor service, the owner’s behavior toward staff was extremely disrespectful—he shouted at an employee in front of guests, clearly frustrated over something we’d already been told wasn’t an issue. This lack of professionalism, combined with the subpar facilities, unreliable infrastructure, and overall disregard for guest comfort, makes me regret every moment spent here. I cannot recommend this hotel under any circumstances.

Hotel Suites Corazón Mexicano

This hotel is absolutely fantastic! Located just steps away from local shops and amazing budget-friendly eateries, it’s perfect for travelers who want to explore the city without breaking the bank. The property is quiet, spotlessly clean, and the staff couldn’t be more welcoming or helpful. I was impressed by how well-maintained the rooms were—comfortable, modern, and very spacious. Everything about the stay was top-notch, from the ambiance to the attention to detail. If you're visiting Guanajuato, this is a must-try. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Hotel Socavon

My stay at Hotel Socavon was overall very pleasant! The hotel is clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Everything was in great condition, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome—friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist. The only downside was that the hotel was undergoing renovations during our visit, which caused some noise and limited access to certain areas. However, it didn’t ruin the experience. In fact, knowing the place will be even better once the upgrades are finished made the temporary inconvenience worth it. I’d definitely come back when the renovation is complete. Location is excellent—easy to walk around town or catch public transit to nearby attractions. A great choice for travelers looking for a cozy, well-located stay in Guanajuato.

Casona San Cayetano Suites & Lofts & Spa by Sce

It’s been a while since our last stay at San Cayetano, but the recent renovations completely exceeded our expectations. The pool area is stunning, and the adjacent relaxation zone is peaceful and perfect for unwinding in the afternoon. High-speed Wi-Fi covers every corner, and the spacious, freshly renovated rooms are spotless and incredibly comfortable. We slept like babies at night—no noise whatsoever. Plus, having secure parking right on-site is a game-changer; just leave your car here and take a quick taxi into downtown Guanajuato, where vehicles can be a hassle. Everything about this place feels thoughtfully designed, from the ambiance to the service. An outstanding experience in a beautifully reimagined hotel—definitely worth returning to.

Casa Nada Hotel

This is my second time staying at this hotel, and I’m just as impressed as the first. The service is outstanding, the rooms are beautiful, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The only minor hiccup was a temporary water issue, but the staff responded immediately and resolved it with great efficiency. Overall, the experience was fantastic—warm hospitality, excellent facilities, and great value. I’ll definitely be back.

Casa Malva Sweet Stay

The hotel is generally great—clean, welcoming, and well-maintained. One thing to note: there's no parking available on-site, so if you're arriving by car, you'll need to plan accordingly. The center is about a 10-minute walk away, but keep in mind it’s located on a hill, so the uphill walk from downtown can be quite steep and tiring, especially with luggage. We’d recommend taking a taxi or Uber to avoid the climb. Despite that, the location offers a quiet, peaceful atmosphere, and the room was comfortable and well-appointed. Overall, a solid choice for a relaxing stay in Guanajuato.

Hotel Plaza Baratillo

Staying at Hotel Plaza Baratillo was an absolute delight, especially given its unbeatable location just steps away from the heart of Guanajuato. The hotel is clean, affordable, and perfect for travelers who value convenience over luxury. That said, one thing to keep in mind before booking is the quality of the beds—some mattresses are quite firm, the bed frames are aged, and a few are missing springs. While this might be a dealbreaker for some, it didn’t bother me at all—I slept well throughout my stay. What really made the trip better was that our room was ready earlier than expected, which gave us extra time to settle in and start exploring the city without rushing. And speaking of exploring, the area around the hotel is fantastic: morning breakfast options, cozy cafés, evening taquerías, fresh tamales, handmade chocolates, pizza, quesadillas—you name it, you can find it right outside the door. It’s rare to find such a vibrant, walkable neighborhood with so much local flavor on your doorstep.

Hotel Corazón Mexicano

Located in a quiet little alleyway, the hotel is just a short walk from where taxis drop you off on the main street—super convenient. If you're driving, you can park at the Plaza San Javier parking lot since it's right next to the sister property. The hotel itself offers a variety of local tours, so you can book your excursions right on-site without any hassle. It’s a smart, stress-free way to explore Guanajuato, and with such great access and helpful service, it truly makes your stay more enjoyable.

Hostal Encounter Guanajuato

Staying at Hostal Encounter Guanajuato felt like coming home to a hidden gem in central Mexico. My first stop was a cozy little bar tucked into Plaza Baratillo—just steps from the hotel, perfect for unwinding with a cold beer and some classic rock tunes on a big screen while catching a football match. The low sofas, simple wooden tables, and the charm of the prettiest square in town made it feel like the ideal spot to soak in local life. It’s not just about comfort—it’s about atmosphere, authenticity, and that rare sense of belonging. Pro tip: if you’re into film lovers, search for movies shot in Mexico. So many scenes were filmed right here in this small, magical city—no wonder it feels like a real treasure trove. This is exactly what I hoped for when exploring Central Mexico.
