Near Gallery Past Rays in Yokohama, Grand Hyatt Yokohama stands out with its panoramic views of Yokohama Bay and the Minato Mirai skyline, just a 10-minute walk away. The hotel’s rooftop terrace and high-floor rooms offer unobstructed vistas, ideal for capturing the city’s modern art and maritime charm.

For a more intimate experience, consider staying at Rinraku House, a boutique guesthouse near the historic Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse. Known for its minimalist design and curated art exhibitions, it blends contemporary aesthetics with local culture. Guests can also join weekend artist-led workshops hosted by the gallery, deepening their engagement with Yokohama’s vibrant creative scene. Both options provide exceptional access to galleries, waterfront walks, and cultural events.

Near Gallery Past Rays, visitors can experience immersive light and sound installations held every first weekend of the month, blending projection art, ambient music, and interactive elements to create transcendent visual narratives. These exhibitions often feature works by emerging Japanese artists exploring themes of memory and transformation.

The adjacent Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse hosts rotating exhibitions in independent galleries, showcasing experimental pieces from local creatives. Many include live artist talks or on-site workshops—such as crafting miniature sculptures from recycled metal—offering hands-on engagement with sustainable art practices.

Additionally, join the Harbor Art Walking Tour, led by resident artists, which traces the city’s artistic evolution through historic docks and industrial architecture. This guided journey reveals hidden cultural symbols embedded in the urban landscape, transforming visitors into active participants in Yokohama’s living art scene.

From Yokohama Station, take the Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line (Line 1) from the West Exit to Kannai Station, then transfer to the Green Line (Line 2) heading to Minato Mirai Station—a journey of about 15 minutes. From there, it's a 5-minute walk to Gallery Past Rays.

Alternatively, board a direct bus from the West Exit: choose the Minato Mirai Line or Red Brick Warehouse Express, both arriving in approximately 8 minutes with scenic views of the harbor. For a leisurely option, walk along Sakuragi-dori Street—about 25 minutes—past art boutiques and cozy cafés, perfect for a slow-paced exploration.

All routes efficiently connect to the heart of Minato Mirai’s cultural district, ensuring quick, scenic, and flexible access to the gallery and surrounding attractions.

Near Gallery Past Rays, prime photo locations include the glass-clad skyscrapers of Minato Mirai, whose reflections shimmer across the water, creating surreal mirror-like effects. Visit Minato Mirai Plaza at dusk to capture the illuminated Bay Bridge framed by the cityscape—perfect for cinematic compositions. Nearby, the Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art’s sculpture garden features rotating installations that frequently become viral photo backdrops.

For a unique perspective, head to the sky garden of Grand Hyatt Yokohama, where elevated vantage points deliver sweeping shots of the entire harbor district. These locations blend architectural drama, artistic expression, and urban elegance—ideal for photographers seeking visually compelling, Instagram-worthy moments.

Sotetsu Fresa Inn Yokohama Sakuragi-Cho

We arrived quite late, but the staff were incredibly proactive and welcoming right from the start—check-in was smooth and they even offered helpful tips about the area. Unfortunately, due to our tight schedule, we didn’t get a chance to explore the hotel’s other facilities, but that didn’t take away from how comfortable the room was. The bed was cozy, the ambiance calm, and everything felt clean and well-maintained. Location-wise, it’s perfect—just a short walk from Sakuragi-cho Station, making it super easy to access downtown Yokohama or the train lines. For the price, this place offers exceptional value. I’d definitely stay here again if I’m back in Yokohama—it’s a solid choice for travelers who want convenience and comfort without the fuss.

Prostyle Ryokan Yokohama Bashamichi

Staying at this stylish guesthouse in Yokohama Bashamichi was a real highlight of my trip. It's incredibly convenient—just a short walk from major train stations, and only 15 minutes to Minato Mirai and the historic Red Brick Warehouses. The moment I stepped into the room, I was impressed by the thoughtful design and calming atmosphere. Unlike many standard Japanese inns, this place feels modern, clean, and truly welcoming. The bed was super comfortable—perfect for a good night’s sleep. And the shower? Absolutely excellent! Strong water pressure, spacious layout, and great hot water. I felt relaxed and at home from the very first minute. This is exactly what a boutique-style stay should be—unique, well-designed, and full of character. Highly recommend for travelers who value both comfort and style.

Navios Yokohama

Staying at Navios Yokohama was a fantastic experience overall. The room size was just right—not too small, not too big—offering a comfortable and well-proportioned space. Cleanliness stood out; every corner felt fresh and meticulously maintained, which made the stay feel very welcoming. One of the biggest perks? Right across the street is a shopping mall and a convenience store, so grabbing snacks or essentials was super easy without needing to go far. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Breakfast was delicious—especially the Japanese-style set meal with fresh ingredients—but it did repeat daily, so variety could be improved. Still, the quality more than made up for it. With great location, clean rooms, and excellent service, this hotel offers real value. I’d definitely stay here again when visiting Yokohama.

Richmond Hotel Yokohama Ekimae

This hotel is an absolute gem—perfectly located in the heart of Yokohama yet surprisingly peaceful. Just steps from major shopping destinations like Takashimaya and Sogo, and with easy access to Shibuya and Tokyo via subway (only a 300-meter walk), it’s ideal for both business and leisure travelers. The two restaurants on the second floor are fantastic—great quality, unique vibe, and definitely worth a visit. I also appreciated how close we were to a large supermarket, making it super convenient to grab fresh seafood for a quick meal. Everything about this stay was seamless: comfort, convenience, and value. Highly recommend this spot if you want a central yet relaxing base in Yokohama.

She went above and beyond to help us recover our lost passport and backpack by coordinating with the subway station—truly lifesaving! The room was spacious, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully designed with a calming vibe. Everything about this place—from convenience to hospitality—was top-notch. I always book this hotel whenever I'm in Yokohama for business trips, and it never disappoints. Sotetsu Fresa Inn Yokohama Higashiguchi

This is the only hotel in my entire trip that truly deserves a perfect 10/10 rating, and its location is simply unbeatable. I actually changed my entire Tokyo itinerary just to stay here—worth every penny. Special thanks to a front desk staff member who speaks Chinese; she helped me rearrange my room booking seamlessly during the Japanese New Year period when our preferred deluxe twin room was fully booked for two nights. We were temporarily moved to a standard twin room, then smoothly switched back—no stress at all. The hotel’s location is fantastic: right next to a FamilyMart, and it’s less than a 2-minute walk to both JR East Exit and Keikyu Line ticket gates. From here, you can easily reach most cities across the Kanto region. The station underground features a huge shopping arcade, and just behind the hotel is another major mall with everything from pharmacies and cosmetics to dining and shopping—everything you need is literally steps away. For first-time visitors, it's easy to get confused: if you exit through the JR Central Arcade gate, look for the sign pointing to 'East Exit,' then follow the path past a large mural on the wall. Take the escalator down, turn left, walk along the left side until you see the sign 'Kita Higashiguchi A.' Ride the elevator up, cross the small bridge, and there you are—FamilyMart and the hotel are right in front of you. Simple, clear, no confusion. This place offers incredible value and convenience. I’ll definitely be back.

HOTEL MYSTAYS Yokohama

We decided to extend our stay for a second night, and it was just as great as the first! The hotel is located just a 5-minute walk from Kōhoku Station on the regular line, making it super convenient to get to Yokohama Station—perfect for travelers who rely on local trains. Even though the room is on the smaller side, it’s well-designed with smart space utilization, so it still feels comfortable and cozy. One of the standout features is the self-service laundry area on the second floor, complete with washers and dryers—huge plus for longer stays or business travelers. There are also two vending machines (for drinks and ice), plus a microwave, which made daily life super easy without having to go out. With its unbeatable location, excellent value, and thoughtful amenities, this hotel is definitely a top pick for anyone visiting Yokohama.

Hotel Yokohama Camelot Japan

I stayed here because of a concert event, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! The staff at the lobby were all incredibly kind—when I was heading out to the venue, one of them even said, 'Have a great time, enjoy yourself!' with such a warm smile. It really made my day. I also appreciated being able to store my luggage, which was super convenient since I didn’t want to carry everything around. The location is perfect for events—it’s just a short ride away from the concert hall via public transit. Everything about this stay felt thoughtfully designed for guests. If I ever have another show in Yokohama, I’ll definitely book here again. Highly recommend!
