Staying at Zeds Hostel Bangkok was one of the most memorable experiences I've had in Thailand. The owner, Cherie, went far beyond just providing a place to sleep—she truly opened up her world to us. She personally led us on a walk through the Samsen neighborhood, showing us how locals live and interact with their community. We met friendly neighbors and even visited a traditional Thai music school where instructors teach the instruments used in Muay Thai stadiums—a unique cultural insight! She also took us to a cozy local craft beer bar along the Chao Phraya River, where we enjoyed delicious Thai street food and great vibes. Her partner, BiRd, was equally welcoming—he acted like a personal concierge, helping us book Grab rides to all our desired destinations with ease. From the warm hospitality to the authentic local connections, this wasn’t just a stay—it felt like being welcomed into a Thai family. If you’re looking for more than just a bed, this is the place to be.
Mam's House Khaosan
I had initially booked a hostel in the hotel district, about five blocks away from Mam's House—but when I arrived, the smell alone was overwhelming, and the place looked run-down. So I canceled my booking, lost the deposit, and started walking around searching for a decent, clean place to rest. That’s when I stumbled upon this gem—Mam's House Khaosan. Honestly, it felt like a miracle. The building is clean, quiet, affordable, and so relaxing. I stayed for five wonderful nights, and it turned out to be the best choice I made during my entire trip to Bangkok. The property has an elevator, rooms are private and cozy with excellent mattresses, and each has a well-maintained private bathroom. The manager and his mom are incredibly friendly and helpful. One small suggestion: more local travel tips would be great—like nearby bus routes or recommended attractions. Whenever I asked about getting to certain places, he’d only suggest taxis, even though some trips could easily be done via bus. Maybe he just wasn’t familiar with the routes, but still, it’s a minor thing. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. Warm, welcoming, and perfect for travelers looking for comfort without breaking the bank.

Stayed at El Huq Hotel and was thoroughly impressed! The location is excellent—just a short walk from major attractions and public transit, making it super convenient for exploring Bangkok. The room was spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with a comfortable layout despite the firm mattress (which actually worked well for me). There are two 7-Elevens nearby, perfect for quick snacks or essentials. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. It’s a great value for money, and I’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bangkok.

We were warmly welcomed late at night, and the check-in process was smooth and friendly. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean—perfect for a relaxing stay. Breakfast was excellent, with a great variety of options and fresh, tasty food. What truly surprised us was the pool—it’s rare to find one in a Bangkok city hotel, and it’s surprisingly well-designed, though more geared toward children. Despite reporting the issue, the response was slow and unsatisfactory, and even getting a full refund took much longer than expected. The overall condition of the rooms suggested years without proper cleaning. The location near the river is nice in theory, but the surrounding area is noisy and unclean. It's hard to believe such a place made it onto any booking platform, especially given the lack of basic hygiene standards. I’d strongly advise travelers to think twice before choosing this hotel—your experience could be just as frustrating as mine.
