Staying at the Great Southern Hotel Perth was an absolute delight! Returning the key at checkout was hassle-free, and they even offered free luggage storage—perfect for travelers with multiple bags. The hotel’s location is unbeatable; right next to the train station, we picked up a $10.40 family day pass for unlimited public transit across Perth. We explored the city effortlessly, and it was especially convenient for visiting Chinatown nearby. The area is safe, even at night, and there are plenty of affordable, delicious Chinese restaurants within walking distance. Overall, this hotel offers great value, excellent service, and a peaceful stay—highly recommend for families or anyone looking for comfort and convenience in Perth.

I rented a car, and having off-street parking for two vehicles (plus overnight space for two more) was a game-changer. It’s rare to find such a peaceful, well-kept place with such convenience and attention to detail. I couldn’t recommend it more highly.

He even offered to lend me a charging cable—a small touch, but very thoughtful. There were complimentary bottled waters in the room, which was a nice surprise. The bedroom didn’t have air conditioning, but the living area had strong cooling, so it wasn’t an issue. Just a heads-up: there’s no mobile key access—guests need to bring a local bank card for check-in. A refundable deposit of AUD 300 is required, which will be returned within five business days after checkout. Location is great, clean, well-maintained, and the value for money is excellent. Definitely a place I’d recommend and return to.

Billabong Backpackers Resort
The location of Billabong Backpackers Resort is fantastic—just a 20-minute downhill walk from East Perth Station, which offers direct access to the airport. It’s also super convenient with a Woolies supermarket and a BWS liquor store right nearby. Every morning, they provide fresh bread for toast or PB&J, plus cereal and milk—perfect for a quick breakfast without leaving the hostel. The private room was spacious, well-equipped with a kettle, mugs, and complimentary tea and coffee supplies. There’s a $10 refundable deposit for dining sets, which is fair considering the quality. One small downside: Wi-Fi is only available in common areas, so no internet in the room. But the staff more than make up for it—they’re friendly, helpful, and gave us great recommendations. We followed their advice to book a ferry to Rottnest Island to see the quokkas, and they even arranged pickup and drop-off, making the whole experience seamless. The kitchen is huge and well-stocked, so preparing your own meals is easy and enjoyable. Overall, this place offers excellent value, a welcoming vibe, and a great base for exploring Perth.

The management is clearly committed to continuous improvements—every room is being freshly painted, new curtains and cupboards are being installed, and the place feels like it’s evolving with every visit. Our new manager was incredibly welcoming and helpful, making us feel right at home. Overall, this was more than just a place to sleep—it was a memorable experience full of great people, good energy, and genuine hospitality. We’d absolutely stay here again without hesitation.
