The onsen was warm and relaxing—exactly what we needed after a long day of sightseeing. One standout moment was the kind hospitality from the male staff member on duty the evening of November 5th. It was raining when we left, and he kindly walked us to our taxi, holding an umbrella the whole way. That small act of care truly made our experience memorable. On the other hand, one of the younger female front desk staff seemed less welcoming—when we asked if we could pick up yukata in the lobby, she said they were already in the room, but we never found any. After checking with other guests, we learned the yukata are indeed meant to be collected at the front desk. A simple miscommunication, but something worth clarifying for future visitors. Overall, the warmth and attention to detail from most of the team more than made up for it. Staying at Hotel New Wakasa was an absolute delight. The kids absolutely loved experiencing the traditional Japanese tatami room—it felt so authentic and cozy. What really stood out was having our own private outdoor onsen, perfect for relaxing in a serene, intimate setting. The rooftop view is breathtaking—panoramic vistas of Nara Park, especially stunning during sunset. And don’t miss the complimentary matcha tea—it’s rich, smooth, and deliciously refreshing. The hotel is just a 3-minute walk from Tōdai-ji Temple, making it ideal for exploring the park in autumn when the foliage turns golden and crimson. It’s one of the most beautiful times to visit Nara, and being so close to the temple made everything even more magical. This place offers incredible value and charm—definitely a top pick if you’re visiting Nara.

Iroha Grand Hotel Kintetsu Nara Ekimae

I stayed in Nara for just one night, but this hotel absolutely exceeded my expectations—truly an incredible value for the price. The location is fantastic: walking distance to shops, supermarkets, drugstores, and convenience stores, plus plenty of cozy cafes perfect for a morning coffee or breakfast. The room itself was spacious with generous bathroom area, making it feel like a home away from home. On the first floor, they provide complimentary amenities like cotton pads and moisturizer—very thoughtful! For repeat stays, they even offer fresh towels and daily trash collection; just place your used towels in the laundry basket and leave both the basket and trash bin by the door. What really stood out was the peaceful vibe of Nara—the locals are incredibly kind, especially toward the deer, which made the whole experience feel so warm and welcoming. I’d love to come back and stay longer next time to truly soak in the city’s charm.

One of my favorite touches was the small bookshelf near the elevator where I could borrow a few titles to read during my stay. The room itself is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with standard business hotel amenities—comfortable bed, good lighting, and reliable Wi-Fi. Overall, the combination of smart automation, thoughtful details, and excellent location makes this a standout choice in Nara.
