We ended up switching from the soon-to-be-closed Yangcheng Lake Banyan Tree—our original plan was a last-minute escape. Choosing Four Seasons Suzhou turned out to be one of our best decisions. The location is unbeatable: directly on the lake, with a peaceful walkway along the water that’s easy and relaxing. The hotel itself isn’t huge, so you can easily explore it without feeling overwhelmed. Our room was spacious and well-proportioned, with two single beds and a sofa that converted into an extra bed—perfect for three of us, and we all slept comfortably. We upgraded in-house for a small fee to a higher-floor lake-view room, and the view was absolutely stunning. Waking up to the calm, glass-like surface of Jinji Lake instantly lifted our mood. Dining was a bit tricky—we didn’t pre-book the Chinese restaurant, and every seating was fully booked. We tried the buffet instead, which was solid but nothing extraordinary. Still, compared to the previous hotel where the air conditioning broke in the Chinese restaurant and the Western dining only served breakfast, this was a major improvement. Staff were attentive and genuinely tried to make things right when issues came up—effort definitely shows. One highlight? The little crab buns and children’s key cards they prepared for our kids. They couldn’t stop talking about them, wore the bags everywhere, and insisted on swiping their own card to open the door. It was such a thoughtful touch that won over the whole family.

The hotel overlooks Yinshan Lake, and I took a peaceful morning walk along the lakeside for about 5 kilometers—serene, refreshing, and perfect for starting the day right. The entire property feels brand new, with top-notch facilities. The fitness center is immaculate, with well-maintained equipment, and the indoor pool offers consistent temperature and humidity—ideal for a relaxing swim without the crowds. The front desk staff, Sawyer, was exceptionally friendly and professional, offering thoughtful travel tips that made our trip much smoother. From the location to the service, every detail was outstanding. This stay exceeded my expectations, and I’ll definitely be back.
Four Points by Sheraton Suzhou, Wuzhong
The hotel overall is excellent—comfortable rooms, great amenities, and friendly staff. While it’s a bit of a walk from the nearest subway station, it’s manageable and not a major issue. Breakfast was decent with a variety of options, but the coffee and tea were disappointing. The coffee was extremely weak—by far the weakest I’ve had in any hotel stay. The black tea tasted more like colored water than actual tea, and there were no fresh tea bags available for brewing. It really brought down the experience, especially since other aspects of the stay were so positive. That said, the room comfort, cleanliness, and service all exceeded expectations. Definitely worth staying again if they can upgrade the beverage offerings.
