Hotel Mexicali
The restaurant was definitely the highlight of my stay—excellent service and delicious food. For just 300 pesos, I enjoyed a full meal that was both satisfying and flavorful. However, the breakfast buffet was a letdown compared to the restaurant. When I arrived at 10 AM, everything had already been cleared away, even though reception told me it ran until noon. On the second day, there was no staff available to refill the buffet—only one cook handling everything, trying to serve while also cooking. It was chaotic and frustrating. The room itself was clean, cozy, and comfortable—nothing fancy, but perfectly functional. Cable TV, soft armchairs, good beds, and strong hot water flow made it a pleasant place to rest. The neighborhood isn’t touristy, but there are local street food stalls just one block away, and Metro Chabacano (Lines 2, 8, and 9) is only two blocks off, making it easy to explore the city. Overall, despite the communication issues between staff, the experience was solid. It’s affordable, convenient, and well worth a repeat visit.

I stayed one night at this hotel and noticed a few areas that could use improvement, especially regarding cleanliness. The beds were not comfortable at all—quite firm and not very restful. While the location is convenient for getting around Mexico City, the overall room hygiene left something to be desired. It’s definitely not a place I’d recommend without some upgrades, particularly in bedding quality and daily cleaning standards. A bit more attention to detail would go a long way in enhancing the guest experience.

Econo Express Hotel is an independently owned local property, not affiliated with any major chain—including the U.S.-based Econo Lodge—so it’s truly unique. The building is brand new, modern in design, and everything inside feels fresh and well-maintained. The rooms are spacious for the price, making them feel airy and comfortable. I was really impressed by the soundproofing—no noise from hallways or street traffic, which made for a peaceful night’s sleep. Front desk staff speak English clearly, and they’re friendly and helpful. Right across the street is a Walmart, and just outside, there’s a row of local food carts that locals swear by—their tacos and tamales are delicious, authentic, and super popular. Definitely worth stopping by if you're hungry. The metro station is literally on the other side of the road, so getting around the city is super easy. Breakfast is a simple but satisfying local-style buffet—just enough to start your day right. Overall, the value here is outstanding. If you're visiting Mexico City and want a clean, convenient, and genuinely local experience without breaking the bank, this hotel is a must-try.

Staying at Hotel Atenas Plaza was an absolute delight. The location is unbeatable—just a short walk from the city center, with metro access right nearby and plenty of restaurants and shops within reach. The room was spotlessly clean, well-organized, and very comfortable, with a cozy bed that made for a restful night's sleep. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Everything about this hotel felt thoughtfully designed—from the ambiance to the attention to detail. It’s a fantastic value for the quality and service offered. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mexico City.

Great stay overall! The hotel is clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. It's conveniently located with easy access to public transit, making it simple to explore downtown Mexico City. There are plenty of dining options nearby, so you won't be short on choices. One thing to keep in mind is that check-in is only available within a two-hour window—so plan your arrival accordingly. Despite that small detail, the experience was excellent, and I’d definitely book again.

The hotel is incredibly convenient—just a short walk from the metro, and within a block you’ll find Oxxo stores and small eateries that stay open late into the night. I appreciated being able to drop off my luggage early before check-in and having no delays when checking out. The room was much larger than expected, spotless, and tidy, with a sealed bottle of water waiting—perfect for those first sips after a long day. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful throughout the entire stay, always responsive and welcoming. Even though we arrived late, they made us feel at home right away.
