Stayed at Fig Tree House during a family trip to support our niece competing in the World Junior Kickboxing Championships at Puskás Stadium. The location was perfect—quiet, clean, and just a short tram ride from all major attractions. Public transportation is super convenient, with trams and buses running frequently throughout Budapest. This place offers incredible value for the price—well worth every penny. The room was spotless, spacious, and very inviting—perfect for a relaxing getaway. What really stood out was the price: unbeatable value for money, making it hard to find a better deal anywhere else. The location is ideal—just a short walk from the city center, with easy access to both buses and metro lines, which made exploring the city so convenient. There’s also a great Italian restaurant just a 5-minute stroll away—perfect for dinner after a long day of sightseeing. The breakfast was delicious and satisfying, adding an extra touch of comfort to our stay. Overall, this place exceeded all expectations. We’ve already planned to return next year and highly recommend Mohacsi Guesthouse to anyone visiting Budapest.

The rooms are comfortable with air conditioning, a TV, and a mini-fridge—perfect for a cozy stay. While the rooms aren’t fully soundproof, the amenities more than make up for it. I especially appreciated the shared kitchen, which made preparing meals simple and budget-friendly. The staff were friendly and helpful, and overall, the experience exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended for travelers looking for a quiet, well-located, and affordable base in Budapest.
Zuglo Hotel
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay! I was checked into room 201—nice furniture, a working refrigerator, and fully functional bathroom fixtures. Hot water was excellent, and the mattress and pillows were comfortable. Towels were clean, and the large window opened wide for good ventilation. All the essentials were there. The only small drawbacks were the lack of a hairdryer, only two outlets in the room (plus two near the sink), some minor stains on the carpet and ceiling, and the soap dispenser not working. But honestly, these are just tiny details when you're staying in such a beautiful city. The hotel's location is fantastic—just a short metro ride from the city center to Mária Square, then a quick tram ride (3 or 4 stops), or you can even walk it in about 10 minutes. Breakfast was solid—basic European-style, but fresh, tasty, and filling. Nothing fancy, but definitely satisfying. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the pool wasn’t operational during my visit, but the outdoor seating area with tables and benches on the lawn made for a lovely spot to enjoy breakfast in the open air. Evenings were perfect for relaxing out there. Overall, a great experience in a wonderful part of Budapest.

Staying at Avenue Hostel in Budapest was one of the best decisions I made during my trip. The hostel is located in a well-maintained building with a slightly older feel, but it’s not a drawback—everything is clean and functional. What stood out most was the staff: friendly, helpful, and always around to assist. There are plenty of cleaning personnel who keep the space spotless throughout the day. I stayed in an 8-person dorm, and while the beds do wobble a little when someone moves, it didn’t disturb my sleep at all. They provide hair dryers, luggage storage, and a simple but satisfying breakfast—perfect for a budget-friendly stay. The value for money is unbeatable. If I ever return to Budapest, this will be my first choice again.

The price is extremely affordable, which explains why it’s often fully booked, but this comes with trade-offs. Nights can get noisy, especially when guests are cooking dinner and socializing late into the evening—something to keep in mind if you value peace and quiet. On the bright side, the kitchen is well-equipped and a real plus for self-catering. Lockers are available, but they don’t come with locks—guests must bring their own small padlock. Overall, the staff and fellow travelers are friendly and welcoming, but the vibe is definitely different from what you’d expect at a standard youth hostel. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option and don’t mind a lively, casual atmosphere with some noise, this place might work for you. Just be prepared for an experience that’s more local, laid-back, and less tourist-oriented.
