Staying at the Best Western Plaza Hotel Hamburg was a fantastic experience overall. The room was beautifully clean and quiet—no noise from neighboring guests, which made for a peaceful night’s sleep. The U-Bahn station is literally right next door, making it super convenient to explore the city without needing a long commute. There are also a few parking spots available directly in front of the hotel, which is a big plus if you're traveling by car. I booked my stay without breakfast, so I can't comment on that part, but everything else—from the welcoming staff to the comfortable furnishings—was excellent. This hotel offers great value for money and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Hamburg.

I stayed at DARZ Guest Rooms in Hamburg, Germany, and the experience was far from satisfactory. I was assigned Room 1 in a separate annex building, but it didn’t match the description at all. There was a strong musty smell throughout the room—only bearable with the window open. Later, I noticed small brown beetles and other pests, likely due to damp conditions. The window faced a busy street at sidewalk level, which made me think it might have once been a shopfront rather than a quiet courtyard-facing room. Privacy was virtually nonexistent. The window couldn’t fully close because of a long curtain that blocked the frame—very inconvenient. The place was extremely echoey; every sound from the hallway or outside carried clearly. Regarding Wi-Fi, although advertised as available, it required a password and only offered four hours of free access from Hamburg’s public network—some rooms even had no connection at all. Staff never proactively explained this. Fortunately, my phone connected without login issues. When I raised concerns and asked for compensation or refund, my requests were completely ignored. It felt like they didn’t care whether guests returned or not—just happy to pocket €80 per booking regardless of quality. This lack of accountability is frustrating. I’m glad PayPal stepped in and refunded part of the payment, even though they weren’t responsible. Explaining the full situation would take too long, but it wasn’t unjustified—it just became too much effort to pursue further. Overall, the management attitude was poor, the room condition unacceptable, and the overall value very low. Not recommended.

The hotel is located in a quiet residential area, and even though our room faced the street, there was absolutely no noise disturbance—perfect for a good night’s sleep. The spacious balcony was a real highlight, ideal for enjoying sunny days outside. Parking is limited due to the neighborhood’s many alley entrances, but the hotel offers paid parking spots on-site, which made things convenient for us. There are several local bakeries nearby that serve breakfast, so we never had to go far for a morning bite. What really stands out is the unbeatable location: just a 5-minute walk to U-Bahn and S-Bahn stations, with frequent service making travel around Hamburg effortless. For the price and convenience, this stay was highly recommended for anyone visiting Hamburg.

I've stayed at IntercityHotel locations in Dresden and Heidelberg before, and this Hamburg-Barmbek branch feels like a familiar extension of the chain—same clean, functional design I appreciate. While it's not right next to the main train station, it’s only a 20-minute ride via public transit, which makes getting around Hamburg stress-free. Right outside the station, you’ll find DM, Rewe, and Aldi—perfect for grabbing snacks or essentials. The Turkish kebab spot downstairs? Absolutely delicious and affordable. What really stands out is how close it is to the airport. If you're catching an early flight, staying here is incredibly convenient—taxis are reasonable due to the short distance. The room itself was spacious, with plenty of room to move around, and everything was spotlessly clean. Overall, excellent value, great location, and a comfortable stay.

The hotel’s location is excellent—just a short walk from public transit and within easy reach of grocery stores that stay open until around 10 PM. That said, this place really only works if your main goal is to sleep. Everything else falls short. My partner and I were shocked when we walked into the room: the bedding was visibly unclean, covered in hair (definitely not ours), and there were strange stains on the pillows. The curtains were faded and even had small holes. We were given just two towels for five days—clearly not enough—and when we asked for replacements, we were met with a sarcastic question instead: "Do you really think these aren’t enough?" The heating works, but the room still felt drafty at night. After checking, we found several tiny gaps under the window sill letting cold air in. The TV didn’t turn on right away and required multiple attempts. The bathroom was dirty and had a strong unpleasant odor—we ended up buying our own toilet cleaner and spray to make it bearable. The showerhead was loose and not properly secured, and the curtain wasn’t fixed in place. It’s extremely cramped, especially for taller guests trying to sit comfortably on the toilet. Front desk staff are only available in the evenings for a few hours—otherwise, everything must be handled by phone. No breakfast included, and no real on-site support. Overall, the experience felt impersonal and under-maintained. This isn’t a hotel you’d recommend for comfort or convenience—more of a budget stopover than a true stay.
