The butler service is truly outstanding: requests made via the in-room iPad are handled promptly, and having a direct WhatsApp contact made it easy to get help even when we were out exploring. Staff went above and beyond—they remembered our preferences, like swapping all regular cokes in the complimentary minibar for Coke Zero after noticing our repeated orders. Special shoutout to the concierge team, especially Nathan—he arranged everything from private massages and yoga sessions to a personalized hiking tour, all delivered with top-tier quality. And let’s not forget the chef’s signature homemade berry crumble—it was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had, rich, fresh, and perfectly balanced. This place isn’t just a stay—it’s an unforgettable experience.

I found a little nook just outside the study—a sunny spot by a gentle fountain with cozy outdoor seating—where I’d love to spend hours. The gym offers jaw-dropping views, and though I didn’t visit the spa this time, I’m already looking forward to returning for another unforgettable massage. The on-site art gallery is world-class, showcasing a beautifully curated collection of South African contemporary art. The wine gallery is both an architectural gem and a tribute to local winemaking—absolutely must-see. During our stay, my partner had to leave unexpectedly due to a family emergency. The staff’s compassion and support were deeply touching—especially Marilie, whose empathy and kindness meant more than words can express. That level of humanity is what sets Ellerman apart. Dinner was as impeccable as always, paired with outstanding South African wines. Though I don’t recall the waiter’s name, he was charming and attentive. In an industry where genuine hospitality is rare, Ellerman House stands as a shining example of how it should be done. I work in a five-star hotel myself, and honestly, every property should take inspiration from this one. Can’t wait to come back.

Compared to some nearby luxury hotels that charge double the price, this one offers far better sightlines and no obstructions. Breakfast was an absolute highlight: oyster bar included! As someone who loves raw oysters, I was thrilled. One day, my grilled meat wasn’t quite right—I mentioned it casually, and the kitchen actually re-cooked it for me the next morning. That kind of attention to detail? Rare. There’s also a fine dining restaurant on-site, run by a female chef-owner whose dishes are deeply rooted in cultural storytelling. She once created a dish specifically for Michelle Obama—an incredible touch. It’s clear this place celebrates women’s voices and creativity. We've visited Cape Town three times now, and without a doubt, Barry Hall Apartments has been the highlight of every trip. Rita’s warm welcome makes you feel right at home—her kindness truly sets the tone for an unforgettable stay. The team, led by Felicity, goes above and beyond: rooms are spotless, beds are neatly made, and dishes are washed and ready each day—perfect after a full day exploring. For a small extra fee, they even handle your laundry, which is incredibly convenient. Located in Sea Point, it's just a 2-minute walk to Regent Street, where you'll find plenty of great restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. It’s less than 10 minutes by car to the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and downtown Cape Town, making everything easily accessible. Table Mountain and Lion’s Head rise majestically behind the neighborhood—just look out the bedroom window and you’ll see them daily. Walking down Regent Street offers stunning views of Lion’s Head, and if you keep going, you’ll reach Camps Bay, then follow the scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive all the way to Hout Bay. Don’t miss the beachfront promenade—7km of beautiful coastline where you can watch paragliders launch from Lion’s Head, float over the ocean, and land gracefully on the sand. We’re already planning our next visit in 2026, and Barry Hall will definitely be our home away from home. One of the most memorable and enjoyable stays we’ve had while traveling the world.
