Xinhu Yuekongjian Hotel

Staying here for two nights was an absolute delight. The hotel is located just a short walk from the main street of Zengcuo'an Village—only about 100 meters away—making it super convenient whether you're arriving in the evening or during the day. If you're coming late, I’d recommend getting off at Cangli Bus Station; the owner offers complimentary pickup service, which was incredibly thoughtful. For daytime arrivals without heavy luggage, taking the metro to Zengcuo'an Station lets you explore the area first before heading back to check in. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful—the young man who met me even carried my bags upstairs. The room was quiet and well-insulated, so I slept soundly every night. What really stood out was that breakfast was included, which isn’t common for guesthouses like this. It wasn't fancy—just milk, eggs, pickled vegetables, congee, steamed buns, and corn porridge—but it was warm, simple, and satisfying. All things considered, the location, cleanliness, hospitality, and value for money make this a top choice if you're visiting Xiamen. Highly recommended.

Marine Garden Hotel

We visited Xiamen during winter with my parents, and since we wanted a stress-free trip without too much walking, we chose this one and only 5-star hotel on Gulangyu Island. Booking in advance included round-trip ferry transfers—by the time we arrived, we’d already seen most of the island! It was such a smooth start to our getaway. Some online reviews mention outdated facilities, but honestly, everything is well-maintained and shows the true quality of a legacy luxury property. My parents and I were all very satisfied. The bedding was clean, the room was spotless, and we felt completely at ease throughout our stay. The location is perfect—right above Shuzhuang Garden’s 'Boshan' area—with panoramic views of the garden and beach. You don’t even need to climb Sunlight Rock to get stunning photos for Instagram. The hotel provides free electric shuttle service from the pier to the property—super convenient. Originally the old customs inspector’s residence and now a training site for the BRICS Customs Organization, it carries real historical charm. Staff are incredibly attentive—always greeting guests with a smile, even from five meters away. It’s clear they’ve been trained to prioritize guest comfort. If you’re traveling with older family members and want a relaxing, scenic, and thoughtfully managed stay on Gulangyu, this place is absolutely worth considering.
