As a military zone property, non-local guests are restricted—this actually ensures an exceptionally clean and well-maintained environment, free from unwanted odors or disruptions. The cleanliness is outstanding, and the bedding is incredibly comfortable—perfect for a good night’s sleep. Staff were friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. When I arrived early, they managed to check me in immediately if a room was available (which it was!), and every request was handled promptly and with genuine care. Their warm smiles and thoughtful touches, like fresh welcome fruit that was sweet and delicious, made a real difference. One of the biggest surprises? They provide free tide-pooling gear! With the electric cart taking you straight to the beach entrance, I was able to head down and explore the tidal pools without any hassle. Originally, I didn’t plan on doing this at all, but after checking tide times on Xiaohongshu, I ended up catching all sorts of tiny sea creatures—such a fun and memorable experience. The hotel itself has a beautiful Balinese-inspired design with a real sense of style. It directly overlooks Xiaodonghai Beach, so we could walk straight into the sea. The pool area is stunning and peaceful. Our ocean-view room had a private balcony with breathtaking views—this morning, I even caught a sunrise while heading to the bathroom (what luck!). Breakfast was more extensive than most reviews suggest—while not mind-blowing in flavor, everything was fresh and varied, definitely not bad at all. The room itself was modern, clean, and well-equipped with comfortable bedding and a spacious bathroom that featured a smart dry-wet separation design. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly; our personal assistant went out of their way to help with luggage and local recommendations. The hotel’s location is convenient for exploring Dadonghai, with easy access to public transit and nearby restaurants and shops. One minor downside was that the spa couldn’t accommodate two guests at the same time—an odd limitation since we’ve experienced flexibility at other hotels. If demand is high enough to cause this issue, it might be worth considering hiring more staff to meet guest needs. But honestly, this small inconvenience didn’t take away from the great experience. I’d definitely book here again on my next trip to Sanya.
