Our stay at Summerview Boutique Hotel & Conference was extremely disappointing. Shortly after check-in, we discovered there was absolutely no water in the bathroom—neither for flushing the toilet nor for showering. We tried calling the number provided multiple times, but no one ever answered. With no working facilities and no response from staff, we had no choice but to check out in the middle of the night and find another place to stay. For a hotel claiming to offer a boutique experience, the lack of basic services like running water is unacceptable. The absence of reliable support during an emergency situation made the entire experience frustrating and stressful. I sincerely hope management addresses these critical issues—otherwise, it’s hard to recommend this property to others.

We’ve stayed at this charming B&B many times now, and it’s always been a top choice whenever we visit Johannesburg. Rose and her team go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome—attentive, friendly, and never too much trouble. The beds are large and incredibly cozy, paired with high-quality linens that make for a truly restful night’s sleep. Everything is spotlessly clean and well-maintained. The location is ideal—just a short Uber ride from Sandton, with all its shopping, dining, and entertainment options within easy reach. 50 on Shepherd Boutique Guest House
After arriving from London, we stayed here for four nights and couldn’t have been happier. Coming from the cold, dark, damp weather in the UK to this peaceful, beautifully landscaped house with a lovely garden and swimming pool felt like stepping into a dream. Our room—the garden suite—had a direct door opening onto the outdoor space, making it feel private, secure, and incredibly relaxing. Though it’s not near public transit, we had rented a car, so that wasn’t an issue at all. Penny, our host, was absolutely charming and thoughtful—she noticed how warm we were on our first night and brought us a fan late in the evening, which was such a sweet gesture. We loved it so much that we rebooked for our final three nights in South Africa, choosing to stay at Shepherd Lodge instead of any other option. This place truly stands out for its comfort, hospitality, and serene atmosphere—highly recommend for anyone visiting Johannesburg.
