At Khadi Gramodyog Bhavan, visitors can engage in authentic intangible cultural heritage experiences rooted in India’s handloom tradition. The highlight is the hand-spinning workshop using traditional wooden Charkhas, where guests learn firsthand about Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of self-reliance through manual spinning.
The site also features an eco-dyeing exhibition, showcasing natural dyes derived from plants like indigo, turmeric, and madder root. Visitors can participate in Bandhani tie-dyeing sessions, creating personalized scarves or fabrics under expert guidance.
Interactive displays use touchscreens and multimedia to explore the evolution of textile crafts and rural livelihood models across India. Guides—often veteran artisans—share personal stories and insights into generational skill transmission.
Plan for at least 2 hours to fully enjoy the experience. Souvenir shops sell 100% handwoven cotton products, custom garments, and cultural memorabilia, supporting local weavers.
Workshops are conducted in English and Hindi, welcoming international travelers. Note that some sessions require prior HopeGoo, and photography is restricted in certain areas to preserve ritual integrity.
