The room and service were excellent—truly exceeded our expectations. We don’t speak much foreign language, but the front desk staff was incredibly patient and helpful, using simple English and gestures to make everything smooth. The location is a bit off the main tourist trail, but that’s actually a plus: right outside the hotel are stops for tram lines 11 and 14, both of which run frequently and connect directly to the main train station. Getting here by tram is super convenient. Walking from the station is doable, but it involves a steep uphill climb. Here’s a little tip we discovered: instead of the main route, head through the park behind the train station, follow the river path to a bridge, cross it (there’s another option on the left), then turn left along the riverside. After about 30 meters, you’ll spot a staircase with an elevator beside it—take the elevator to level three, exit left, and you’ll find yourself on a charming old European cobblestone path. Follow this into a small park, exit at the far side, and suddenly your navigation app will show how close the hotel is—no more long uphill trek! Plus, you get a unique view of the city from a different angle. The photo of the hotel’s exterior is taken from the main entrance; the downhill path on the left leads straight into the park. If you open your map immediately after stepping out of the train station, you’ll likely miss this shortcut entirely. Highly recommend this route for travelers who enjoy exploring offbeat paths and want to avoid the climb. Overall, great value, warm hospitality, and a memorable arrival.

Staying at Hotel Stoller was an excellent experience. From Zurich Airport, taking bus routes 16 or 33 is convenient and actually saves about 6 minutes compared to going directly to Zurich HB. However, the buses don’t run as frequently as the nearby tram lines 2 and 3, which are always available with seats. The room faces the quiet courtyard—perfect for a restful night’s sleep. Daily cleaning is thorough, and I really appreciated the complimentary four bottles of drinks each day. The apple stand downstairs offers fresh, sweet-and-sour apples that are a delightful treat. The bed is slightly narrow, but that’s typical for 4-star hotels in Germany and Austria, so it’s not surprising. I checked out both M and Coop supermarkets—ended up choosing Coop because the one near the tram stop (5–6 stops from the hotel, right next to a McDonald’s) has the widest selection. Late October to mid-November, outdoor temperatures were around 10°C, but the room’s heating made it cozy and comfortable throughout. Overall, great value, exceptional comfort, and a fantastic location—definitely planning to return.

There’s a supermarket right downstairs, and nearby Coop has an affordable buffet on the fourth floor that’s worth trying. The hotel is spotlessly clean and well-maintained throughout. An elevator takes you directly to your floor on the ground level, and the bathroom lighting is bright and functional. Showering is only possible in the bathtub, which isn’t ideal, but the toilet flush requires covering the lid first—a small quirk that actually helps keep hygiene in check. The mini-bar includes coffee capsules for a quick caffeine fix. What truly stood out was the warm and helpful service from a female staff member who didn’t look typically European but was incredibly kind and attentive—she made us feel welcome and at ease during our stay in Zurich. We chose this hotel mainly for its excellent transport links, cleanliness, and genuine hospitality. The only minor downside was that our room shared a door with the adjacent one, and since the neighboring room had a family with kids, there was some noise—still, it didn’t ruin the trip. Overall, this place offers great value and a welcoming atmosphere, highly recommended.

There are also tons of great restaurants nearby, so dinner options were never a problem. One quirky detail: the elevator requires you to open the door manually—something I’d never seen before, but honestly, it added a bit of charm. Check-in and check-out weren’t staffed on Saturday, so we had to figure things out ourselves. While the check-out instructions weren’t clearly mentioned in the email, I found them posted inside the elevator—just drop your key into the white mailbox on the right side of the first floor. It was a little tricky at first, but everything worked smoothly. Overall, this place offers excellent value, safety, and comfort. Highly recommend for solo female travelers looking for a peaceful, well-located stay in Zurich!

Budget Youth Hostel
The staff was extremely unfriendly and gave zero flexibility regarding early check-in. I arrived at 1 PM, but check-in wasn't until 4 PM. Instead of allowing me to wait in the common area or offering to store my bags, they just left my luggage sitting around the facility and told me to leave and come back later. This was one of the worst hostel experiences I've ever had. The place is cheap and clean, which is a plus, but the facilities are basic and nothing is done to encourage guest interaction or socializing. It felt very impersonal and unwelcoming—definitely not worth it for the price.
