The staff could have been more welcoming upon arrival—just a little more warmth in their greeting would’ve made a big difference. But beyond that, everything else was excellent: clean rooms, great location, and a real sense of comfort. I’d definitely consider staying here again if I’m back in Cologne.

We stayed two nights at Maria Suite am Dom and were truly pleased with our experience. We specifically booked the fourth-floor room, and while climbing the stairs wasn’t effortless, the view and terrace made it totally worth it. The rooftop space is perfect for relaxing—yes, you’re in a big city, so some ambient noise is expected, but we loved being able to enjoy an evening drink or two under the open sky. The large fridge was a real plus for keeping drinks chilled during warm weather. Thankfully, the hotel provides a portable air conditioner, which kept our bedroom comfortably cool throughout the night. While a split unit would’ve been ideal for cooling the living area too, we were already happy with how pleasant and refreshing our sleep was. The room came equipped with a Nespresso machine, kettle, coffee pods, tea bags, and even two bottles of water—all perfectly sufficient. Everything was spotless, and the hosts were incredibly welcoming and attentive. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to dine at the restaurant this time due to pre-booked events, but the dining space looked inviting and well-maintained—we’ll definitely try it on our next visit. Overall, this was a successful stay. We felt at home, relaxed, and will absolutely be returning.
