Halloween was absolutely magical here! The location made getting from the airport a breeze—just hop on the metro and you're there in no time. Check-in was quick and smooth, and the dorm rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The common kitchen and social area downstairs are huge—perfect for cooking up a meal or hanging out with fellow travelers. It’s a bit more functional than cozy, which I think is just how things are post-pandemic, but still super practical. What really stood out? The nearby food markets. Hudson Food Market became my go-to spot—fresh deli items, pantry staples, drinks, and an amazing coffee to kick off any morning adventure. Whether I was grabbing dinner ingredients or packing a lunch for a full day exploring, everything I needed was right around the corner. This place truly combines convenience, community, and comfort—highly recommend for solo travelers or groups looking for a vibrant yet easygoing vibe.

The large main bathroom plus a convenient smaller service bathroom made daily life so much easier—something rare in New York! Our host was incredibly welcoming and attentive, always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Best of all, it’s less than 200 meters from the subway station, putting every major attraction just a short ride away. Whether you’re exploring Manhattan or just relaxing in style, this place offers the perfect balance of charm, convenience, and comfort. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat—highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic, memorable NYC experience.

That said, I did notice the neighborhood’s safety level is average, so I’d recommend being mindful when walking around late at night. All in all, it's a great choice if you're looking to immerse yourself in a real Harlem vibe without sacrificing comfort or convenience. Sleep Inn Long Island City - Manhattan View
I booked this property through Choice Hotels and received confirmation along with a 'we're looking forward to your stay' email just a week before arrival. When we arrived, we discovered it was actually a women's shelter, leaving us with no place to stay despite having already paid in advance. It was extremely stressful showing up in New York with no accommodations available—most hotels were fully booked—and all our plans had fallen apart. This experience was incredibly disappointing and frustrating. Please avoid this location at all costs.
