Staying at New Hotel le Quai - Vieux Port in Marseille was a real highlight. The location is unbeatable—just steps from the old port and within easy reach of all major attractions. There’s a supermarket right outside the hotel, and the underground parking garage is conveniently located beneath the building, making it super easy to manage your car without stress. The front desk staff on day one were warm, helpful, and made us feel welcome. However, on the second morning, when we arrived at breakfast around 8:30 AM, the buffet was completely empty—no food left at all. After reporting the issue, we ended up chatting with the restaurant team at the front desk for quite some time, but no replacement items appeared. It was a bit frustrating, especially after such a strong start. That said, the hotel’s central location, stylish design, and overall vibe more than make up for the minor hiccup. If you're looking for comfort, convenience, and great access to Marseille’s charm, this place is definitely worth considering.

The bathroom didn’t come with hand towels or a hairdryer—both had to be requested at reception and returned immediately. If you wanted to keep the dryer, you had to leave your ID as collateral, which felt a bit odd. Our bed was very noisy and stiff, and the pillows were overly soft with no shape, so they weren’t great for comfort. If you’re sensitive to noise or have trouble sleeping, avoid weekends—the building is right above bars and restaurants, and even with double-glazed windows, street sounds carried through clearly. Overall, the price-to-quality ratio is fair for a budget stay, but the rooms are definitely basic. It’s best suited for travelers looking for a simple, no-frills overnight option rather than a relaxing retreat.

As locals familiar with the vibrant energy of Marseille—something we absolutely love—we were completely surprised to discover this peaceful retreat nestled just minutes from the city center, high up in the hills. The scenery feels straight out of a Pagnol film: rustic, charming, and utterly serene. Florence and her husband welcome you with genuine warmth and simplicity that instantly puts you at ease. The two well-appointed rooms, the lovely pool, the lush garden, and especially the homemade breakfast—each element truly makes your stay unforgettable. This has been the worst hotel experience of my life. The room was damp with a strong moldy smell, walls had visible holes, and the bathroom reeked of dog odor—completely unacceptable. There was only one power outlet in the entire room, and I had to rely on a portable electric heater for warmth. The TV was filthy, and the staff were extremely unpleasant—threatening to raise my deposit from €60 to €160 just because I mentioned some minor issues. The overall condition, cleanliness, and service were appalling. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, not even as a last resort. If you're visiting Marseille, skip this hotel entirely—there are far better options available.
