I stayed at Urumqi Xiyunlai Business Hotel for one night and I can't recommend it enough! Karlraily Hotel
The hotel's environment is quite pleasant, and the location is convenient. I was told there would be free parking, but when checking out, I was asked to message via WeChat for reimbursement. I sent the details right away while still at the hotel, but never heard back after arriving at my destination—only ended up getting reimbursed for $7.30. It felt a bit unprofessional and left a negative impression despite everything else being great. The rest of the stay was solid, but this part really could use some improvement in communication and follow-up.
C'est La Vie Youth Hostel
I stayed at C'est La Vie Youth Hostel during the Urumqi Marathon in August 2025, booking a single room for four nights from the 27th to the 30th. The dorm rooms are set up with 3–4 single bunk beds per room—perfect for solo travelers like me. Male and female guests are separated into different rooms, and shared bathrooms are also gender-divided, which I appreciated for privacy. The bedding was clean and changed daily—very hygienic. There’s also a cozy common area ideal for relaxing or meeting other travelers. The staff noticed I’m an older guest and kindly assigned me a lower bunk, plus helped me connect to Wi-Fi on my phone—small gestures, but really thoughtful. The price is super affordable, and it clearly draws a lot of visitors—by the 30th night, the place was completely booked. On the 31st, I returned late in the afternoon and needed time to freshen up; the team didn’t mind at all, showing great flexibility. Overall, this hostel exceeded my expectations—great value, friendly staff, and a welcoming vibe. If I ever come back to Urumqi, I’ll definitely stay here again.

After wrapping up my business trip, I decided to extend my stay over the weekend with my girlfriend.
