I came prepared for freezing cold weather, but the hotel apartment was so well heated that I could comfortably wear shorts and a t-shirt indoors. The radiant floor heating (which I later learned is called 'underfloor heating') made the entire room cozy, and I even sat on the floor without feeling chilly—no need for thick sweaters or thermal underwear at all. It’s amazing how warm it felt despite the winter chill outside. The hotel itself is fantastic—modern, clean, and very comfortable. Nearby, there are great local eateries: the self-serve meal boxes were generous and delicious, the street-side barbecue and skewers were surprisingly tasty, and catching a live Errenzhuan performance added a real cultural touch. The city is well-planned, with clean streets and friendly locals. I now think Shenyang rivals many southern Chinese cities in livability. I’m already looking forward to my next stop—Harbin, which I’ve heard is much colder. But after this experience, I’m confident I’ll be just as comfortable. This place truly feels like a winter escape!
