Step into Libyan Square, where every cobblestone hums with the pulse of Russia’s hidden past—this isn’t just a plaza, it’s the beating heart of Soviet intrigue. Cold stone buildings stand in silent witness, each shadow whispering secrets of power and silence. Don’t miss the solemn monument at its center, quietly honoring those erased by history. Come here not for scenery, but for the deep, resonant tremor beneath your feet.

Everything you need to know about Lubyanka Square
While Lubyanka Square doesn't directly face Red Square, it's just 1.5 km away. InterContinental Moscow Kremlin is highly recommended for its panoramic views of Red Square and the iconic St Basil’s Cathedral from its upper-floor rooms. Located in the heart of Moscow, the hotel is a 10-minute walk from Lubyanka Square and offers excellent access to nearby historical sites such as the former KGB headquarters and the State Historical Museum. Its prime location and luxury amenities make it ideal for travelers seeking both comfort and cultural immersion in Moscow’s political and architectural heritage.
From Lubyanka Square, take the Red Line subway to the Kremlin Station, which takes just 3 minutes, or walk about 15 minutes to the main entrance of the Kremlin. The area is well-connected by Moscow’s metro network, with multiple lines converging nearby, making transfers to other attractions effortless. Free shuttle buses also run along Arbat Street and the Moscow River to the southern Kremlin entrance, saving time and energy. It’s recommended to visit early in the morning to avoid midday crowds and book guided tours in advance to explore the inner palaces and national treasures within the complex.
The standout cultural experience near Lubyanka Square is visiting the former KGB headquarters, now the Museum of Russian Secret Police, offering an immersive look into Soviet-era intelligence operations. Nearby, Arbat Street is lined with art galleries, craft workshops, and independent bookstores—ideal for joining a Russian pottery workshop or purchasing limited-edition matryoshka dolls. At night, catch a traditional Russian-language play at the Lubyanka Theatre to experience Moscow’s rich theatrical legacy. For architecture lovers, don’t miss St. Nicholas Church and October Revolution Square, both exemplifying classic 19th- to early 20th-century design across Moscow’s urban landscape.
Yes, several business-oriented hotels surround Lubyanca Square, including Hyatt Moscow and Ramada by Wyndham Moscow, both equipped with high-speed meeting rooms, 24-hour business centers, and free Wi-Fi. Located near Moscow’s financial district and government offices, these hotels are just 5 to 10 minutes’ walk from major corporate headquarters. Many offer executive concierge services, including private receptionists and airport transfers, ideal for business travelers or conference attendees. Nearby, upscale restaurants and cafés provide versatile venues for networking and professional gatherings.
While Lubyanca Square itself is dominated by commercial and governmental buildings, Moskva River Park, just 500 meters away, is perfect for families. It features child play zones, shaded walking paths, and boat rentals on the river, plus regular family events and outdoor concerts. Additionally, the Kremlin Gardens are open to the public, allowing children to explore historic architecture while enjoying safe, green spaces. Bring picnic supplies and visit in the late afternoon to enjoy sunset views over the city skyline—a peaceful and memorable experience for families visiting Moscow.
Visit Stary Moskva Restaurant on Arbat Street, known for its traditional dishes like borscht, shashlik (grilled lamb skewers), and black bread with butter, all prepared using authentic recipes. Another option is The Little Hut Tea House near Lubyanca Market, where you can enjoy genuine Russian samovar tea with homemade jam-filled pastries and freshly baked bread. For a deeper culinary immersion, join a Moscow Cooking Class led by local chefs who guide you through market visits, ingredient selection, and hands-on preparation of vareniki (dumplings) and puff pastry desserts, offering a fun and interactive way to explore Russian food culture.

Second stay at Budapest Hotel and still absolutely delighted! The location is unbeatable—just a short walk from Red Square and all the surrounding sights. This time, I finally cracked the metro system, which made getting around so much more efficient. The subway here is stunning—clean, fast, and easy to navigate. The hotel itself continues to impress with its comfort and excellent service. It feels like coming home every time. I’m already planning my third visit! If you’re in Moscow, don’t miss this gem.

We stayed at this hotel with my husband and couldn’t be happier with our experience. The location is excellent—close to the city center, making it super convenient to explore Moscow on foot or by metro. The room was spotless, well-maintained, and very comfortable. Breakfast was a buffet-style spread with a good variety of options—both hot and cold dishes, plus drinks. We were a bit disappointed that the sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi weren’t available during our visit, but we still enjoyed the spa area, especially the relaxing whirlpool. The staff was outstanding—the manager, Oleg, went above and beyond. He welcomed us warmly, offered a vase for flowers, answered all our questions patiently, and made us feel truly valued. His professionalism and kindness left a lasting impression. This place offers great value for money, and I’d definitely recommend it to others. Would book again without hesitation.

Staying at this hotel was an absolute pleasure—truly a highlight of my trip to Moscow. I especially want to thank the administrator Yaroslav for his exceptional hospitality; he was always available, friendly, and quick to assist with any request or question. The location is excellent—just a short walk from major attractions and public transport, making it easy to explore the city. Clean rooms, thoughtful amenities, and a welcoming atmosphere make this place stand out. If you're looking for a reliable, comfortable, and well-located stay in Moscow, this is definitely the place to book.

Staying at Arbat 6 Boutique Hotel was an absolute delight from start to finish. The location is unbeatable—just steps away from Moscow’s city center, making it effortless to explore on foot. Whether you're driving or using public transit, parking is convenient and the neighborhood feels safe and lively. The hotel’s interior design stands out in every detail—from the stylish reception area perfect for a quick photo op, to the thoughtfully arranged rooms. We booked a room with a skylight and two separate spaces, which felt spacious and modern. High-quality furniture, a comfortable mattress, and plush pillows made for a restful night’s sleep. Even with the street noise from Arbat Street outside, soundproofing was excellent—no disturbances from neighbors or early morning cleaning. The bathroom was a real highlight: sleek design, elegant mirrors, and premium textiles. The robes and towels felt luxurious against the skin, adding that extra touch of comfort. Bonus perks include a small but well-equipped fitness corner and a manicure studio right in the building. I highly recommend ordering breakfast in-room—it saved us time and effort when we were searching for nearby cafes. The food was fresh and satisfying. Overall, this hotel offers exceptional value for its price. Plus, they have a loyalty discount system for longer stays, which is great for business travelers or extended visits. If you’re planning a trip to central Moscow, this is definitely one to consider.

This charming little hotel has been beautifully renovated and truly shines in every aspect. The room was spacious and impeccably clean, offering a comfortable stay from the moment I arrived. The staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly helpful—every question I had was promptly addressed at the front desk. Breakfast was a highlight: a well-curated buffet with diverse, delicious options, served by a genuinely friendly hostess who made me feel right at home. One thing I really appreciated? No staff from neighboring countries—just local team members, which added to the authentic and personal touch. It’s clear this place values quality and hospitality. I hope the owners keep preserving these strengths for years to come. A standout choice in Moscow, and definitely worth returning to.

I've stayed at Gesten Hotel more than once, and it never fails to impress. The location is unbeatable—right next to a metro station, with Red Square just a short 5-minute walk away. For Moscow’s city center, the price is very reasonable and offers excellent value for money. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is delicious—plus, you can order it to your room, which is a nice touch. The rooms are simple but well-equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The only minor downside is the soundproofing; occasionally, you can hear what's happening in the adjacent room, but it’s not disruptive. Overall, this hotel delivers exactly what you’d expect from a central, reliable, and affordable option in Moscow. Highly recommend!

Absolutely loved my stay at Hotel Siluet! The location is perfect—right in the heart of Moscow, making it super convenient to explore the city on foot. The room was spotless and incredibly quiet, which made for a peaceful and restful night's sleep. The staff were friendly and attentive, going the extra mile to ensure everything was comfortable. Definitely recommend this gem to anyone visiting Moscow!

The Buddhotel in Moscow offers a great experience overall, even though it's a bit off the main tourist trail. The good news is that taxis are super affordable here—just a few minutes away and very budget-friendly. The only downside is that there’s only a small convenience store nearby, which can be a bit inconvenient if you need essentials daily. I ended up walking to a nearby shopping mall each day to pick up water and snacks, and it worked out fine. The room was clean, comfortable, and staff were friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a quiet, well-priced stay with solid value, this place is definitely worth considering.

Staying at Key Element Hotel in Moscow was a real highlight, especially given the current situation with navigation being unreliable due to the ongoing conflict. The hotel's location is incredibly convenient—easy to find and close to everything I needed. When I wanted to head to a local grocery store, the front desk went above and beyond by printing out the exact location for me, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Even though the bedding had a few patches (a bit noticeable, but not deal-breaking), the room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained overall. With its central position and excellent staff service, this place offers great value for money. Definitely recommend for travelers looking for a hassle-free, stress-free stay in Moscow.

I can't recommend this hotel at all—our experience was extremely disappointing and deeply unsettling. While the location is convenient, just a short metro ride away, the service was appalling. The front desk staff was rude and dismissive, with no regard for basic customer respect. Later, a manager named Sergey reached out, claiming he wanted to understand the situation—but his real goal seemed to be persuading us to delete our negative review. He even tried to shift blame onto me, suggesting I was at fault for the incident. When we explained that we had to cancel due to a family member’s sudden heart attack—well in advance (12 days prior), and with full prepayment for four nights—he insisted the rate was non-refundable and that our circumstances didn’t matter. He cited a message stating, 'By choosing a non-refundable rate, you accept all risks—you’ll never get your money back, even if something serious happens.' We sent medical documentation, flight tickets, and booking details as proof of the emergency, but he still refused to refund us, saying the evidence wasn’t sufficient. This contradicts Russian consumer protection laws: when services aren’t provided due to unforeseen circumstances, refunds are legally required. There was zero empathy, no understanding, and no humanity in their response. Instead, they offered a voucher in exchange for deleting our feedback—like we were the ones who caused the problem. This kind of behavior feels predatory. We’re now preparing to file a police report and take legal action for fraudulent practices. Please, avoid this hotel. Don’t let them profit from your trust. Choose a place with integrity, compassion, and transparency instead.
