Backpackers Hotel Ximen
I was genuinely impressed with this hostel—better than I expected! The room is compact but has a private bathroom, which made my stay so much more convenient. No need to rush to shared facilities, and the privacy curtain gives you a bit of personal space. Everything was spotless and well-maintained, from the bedding to the common areas. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful—they went out of their way to answer questions and even gave me some great tips on nearby spots to check out. Location-wise, it’s super central—just a short walk or quick subway ride to Ximending, perfect for exploring the city. Clean, welcoming, and affordable—this place really delivers on value. I’d absolutely stay here again if I come back to Taipei. Highly recommended!
Beitou Resort Metro Inn
Staying at Beitou Resort Metro Inn was a fantastic experience, especially for travelers exploring Taipei’s northern areas. Located just a short walk from Exit 2 of Fuxinggang MRT Station, the hotel is incredibly easy to find—cross the overhead bridge and follow the signs straight ahead. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, with a welcoming lobby that offered complimentary tea, cookies, and a coffee machine for guests to use anytime. The amenities are top-notch: a well-equipped fitness center, an indoor pool (don’t forget your swim cap—our team missed it and couldn’t use the pool, which was disappointing!), a convenience store, free laundry machines, and even free bicycles available for rent. Perfect for spontaneous trips to Xinbeitou or Yangming Mountain! Breakfast options were great too—simple but satisfying on weekdays with a Mos baked ham sandwich, tea egg, and drink, while weekends offered more variety including lotus paste buns, fresh vegetables, tofu, edamame, and more. Kids staying in a double room incur an extra charge of TWD 100, weekday breakfast is TWD 120, and weekend breakfast is TWD 180—still very reasonable. Overall, this hotel offers unbeatable value, convenience, and comfort. If you’re planning a visit to the Beitou area, this is definitely one of the best places to stay.

This was my first stay at this hotel and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. The location is absolutely unbeatable—just a 5 to 10-minute walk from Exit 1 of Beimen MRT Station, and only 15 to 20 minutes to Taipei Main Station. Getting around town is super easy, and being close to Da-Di-Chang, Dihua Street, and Ximending makes it perfect for shopping and exploring. The owner is incredibly friendly and responsive—every message I sent got a quick reply, and they always took the time to help. I stayed in a room with two double beds, which was spacious, well-equipped, and spotlessly clean. The only minor downside is slightly weaker sound insulation, but it didn’t really affect my sleep. Overall, the atmosphere is cozy, the convenience is top-notch, and the value for money is excellent. I’ll definitely book here again if I ever come back to Taipei.

This has to be the most thoughtful hostel I've ever stayed at. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how well-prepared they were for every need—free tea bags, coffee, toothpicks, cotton swabs, moisturizer, hair ties… even things I didn’t think to bring myself. The bathroom area is fantastic with five private rooms, and there’s a non-slip mat just outside each door—such a smart touch for safety and comfort. Kitchen essentials, hair dryers, washing machines, and a fridge are all available, plus everything you might not even realize you’d need. They require guests to change into indoor slippers upon entry, which really shows their commitment to cleanliness. The 6-person dorm is surprisingly spacious, and they’ve thought of everything—even including towel racks! Location-wise, it’s unbeatable: just a 2-minute walk to Dihua Street, 5 minutes to Beimen Station, and less than 10 minutes on foot to Ningxia Night Market. Perfect for exploring Taipei’s vibrant streets and food scene. Everything about this place—from service to facilities to convenience—deserves a perfect score. If you’re visiting Taipei, this hostel is an absolute must-book.

I arrived in Taipei for a quick overnight layover during a busy travel season, and was shocked by how expensive hotels had become—most places were over $1,000 and completely sold out. The inn was spotless, staff were friendly and helpful, and being just steps from the MRT station made getting around super easy. Despite the cramped space and a bit of breeze, the value was outstanding. For a no-frills, budget-friendly stay in central Taipei, this is a solid choice—I’d definitely come back.

It’s just a 7-minute walk to the metro station and only about 3 minutes to the nearest bus stops, making it super convenient for getting around. The building has been well-renovated, but since it’s an older structure, some noise can carry through the walls—especially during late night or early morning hours. We had a few instances where loud conversations in the hallway disrupted our sleep, which was a bit frustrating. That said, the staff were incredibly helpful, especially offering free luggage storage after check-out, which made our travel plans much smoother. While it’s hard to control what happens next door, adding quiet reminders in common areas or doing a gentle announcement might help reduce disturbances. Overall, this place offers excellent value and a lively local vibe—perfect if you’re looking to experience authentic Taipei life without breaking the bank.
