Another excellent option is HOTEL THE CUBE Sapporo, located only 700 meters away, blending modern design with Hokkaido-inspired aesthetics. It features an on-site onsen bath and a restaurant specializing in local ingredients. Guests can enjoy exclusive access to weekly events like the Maruyama Festival, including special tea ceremonies. Both properties offer ideal stays for visitors seeking nature, culture, and convenience in central Sapporo.

From Maruyama Park, take the Sapporo Municipal Subway Tozai Line to stations like Nishi-11-Jō or Hokkaido University Station, connecting seamlessly to major sites such as Odori Park, Sapporo TV Tower, and Toriyama Shopping Street. Multiple bus routes—including Route 39 and 64—run directly from near the park to Sapporo Station and White Love Park, offering flexible options.

A scenic alternative is the dedicated bicycle path linking Maruyama Park to Odori Park (1.8 km), passing through urban green corridors and riverside views. Rent a public bike via Sapporo Bike Share for low-cost, eco-friendly travel—ideal for families and couples. All modes accept Suica and ICOCA cards, enabling contactless payment without extra tickets, making exploration effortless and efficient.

Beyond its famous cherry blossoms, Maruyama Park hosts several traditional cultural events throughout the year. During spring, the annual Maruyama Festival features kimono try-on booths, tea ceremony demonstrations, and taiko drum performances, where visitors can participate in crafting paper lanterns and making inari sushi.

In autumn, the park transforms during the Autumn Illumination Festival, with ancient trees and shrines lit up in soft glow, creating a dreamlike atmosphere complemented by traditional music concerts and craft markets. Photography enthusiasts flock here for the magical night scenery.

The park also houses a branch of the Sapporo Citizens' Museum, showcasing Ainu culture, indigenous history, and artifacts from Hokkaido’s early days, offering deep insights into regional heritage. During festivals, guests can join prayer wish-writing rituals, hanging their hopes on sacred ema boards—an authentic glimpse into Japanese spiritual traditions. These experiences turn Maruyama Park into more than a green space—it’s a living cultural stage.

Maruyama Park is one of Sapporo’s most popular destinations for families. The park features a large children’s playground with safe sand pits, slides, and climbing structures, plus regular parent-child workshops on nature crafts, plant specimen collection, and ecological tours.

During summer, the open plaza hosts Family Picnic Days, offering free rental of tents and picnic tables, along with guided simple science experiments and outdoor games led by experts. The lakeside walking trail includes family bicycle rentals, allowing parents and kids to ride along the water’s edge, spotting ducks and willows, with stops at the Lakeside Pavilion for warm soups and sweet treats.

In winter, it transforms into a snow sculpture experience zone, where families can build small snow sculptures together and join snow treasure hunts—fun, educational, and perfect for all ages. All activities provide bilingual (Chinese and English) instructions, ensuring smooth participation for international families.

Sapporo Tokyu Rei Hotel

Staying at Sapporo Tokyu Rei Hotel was an absolute highlight of my trip to Hokkaido. The location is unbeatable—just a short walk from Nishi-2-chome Station's Exit 4, with a cozy bakery right outside where I grabbed fresh pudding and toast in the morning. My double room was surprisingly spacious—my suitcase opened fully three times over, and there was even a small sofa for relaxing. The view from the window? Straight onto the iconic Ferris wheel, especially magical at night when it lights up. On my second night, we experienced a minor earthquake—no panic at all thanks to the hotel’s immediate broadcast alert and clearly marked emergency exits throughout the hallways. Safety first, and this place delivered. At just under $400 per night, the value is incredible—great location, big room, excellent service. Plus, they offer luggage storage, which made my early check-in and late checkout so much easier. This is definitely a hotel I’d return to without hesitation.

Tokyu Stay Sapporo Odori

Staying at Tokyu Stay Sapporo Odori for my last two nights was a perfect choice. The hotel is easily accessible via the elevator from a small shopping area beside Loccintane underground passage—just cross the street and you’re there. You can even spot the hotel right after stepping out of the elevator, so no worries about getting lost. One unique feature I really appreciated was the separate bathroom and toilet with sinks on both sides—super convenient and well thought out. I also made good use of the in-house washing machine, which saved me from carrying laundry around. Right outside the hotel, turning right leads straight to Tachibana Street—a lively area full of great food, shops, and local charm. The location is ideal for exploring downtown Sapporo, and everything feels within easy reach. It’s rare to find such comfort, convenience, and value in one place. Definitely coming back next time.

Tokyu Stay Sapporo

Stayed in room 909 from December 16 to 19, 2025 — and honestly, this was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in Sapporo. The room was incredibly well-equipped: a double-door refrigerator, washer-dryer combo, microwave, bathtub, shoe dryer, humidifier, huge vanity mirror, smart toilet, and even a REFA hairdryer and showerhead — everything you’d want for a comfortable stay. Plus, complimentary toiletries were available at the elevator lobby for guests who needed them. The free afternoon tea was such a thoughtful touch, and they even handed out a little tote bag — small but very appreciated. Since the hotel was undergoing renovations, I got a free breakfast day, which turned out to be delicious with a great variety of options. Location-wise, it’s unbeatable. Just a 5-minute walk to tour pickup points, perfect for day trips. Great for shopping too — stash your bags upstairs and keep exploring without carrying them around. A short Uber ride to Sapporo Station costs about ¥2,000, and if you're heading to the airport with heavy luggage, it's still manageable. What really stood out was the check-in service: my luggage was brought up to my room before I even arrived, and the heating was already on. That kind of attention to detail is rare at this price point. Most hotels would make you pick up your bags at the front desk and carry them up yourself. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I visit Sapporo — and I’m already curious to try other branches. Highly recommend this place!

The bed was comfortable, and I slept like a baby. What really stood out was the friendly and helpful staff—they went the extra mile to make sure everything was perfect. It’s a fantastic value for money, and I’d definitely book again. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sapporo!

Koko Hotel Sapporo Odori

Staying at KOKO Hotel Sapporo Odori was one of those rare moments where travel truly feels like living. Visiting Hokkaido during the off-season turned out to be unexpectedly magical—fewer crowds, softer light, and a calm that wraps around you like a warm blanket. I spent a quiet afternoon on a bench right outside the station, sipping coffee while enjoying a steaming bowl of curry from a nearby spot. The aroma filled the air, simple but deeply satisfying. Walking through Nakamise Street, I stopped by Seicosmart for some fresh produce—fresh, local, and full of life. What struck me most wasn’t the scenery or the sights, but the feeling of being present. No rush, no itinerary, just time to breathe. This hotel isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s a gateway to a slower, more thoughtful way of traveling. The location is perfect: steps from the train station, close to shops and local flavors. It’s not about checking boxes; it’s about finding peace in small things—a sunlit bench, a good meal, a moment of stillness. If you’re looking for a real, authentic experience beyond the tourist trail, this is it. A true gem for anyone who believes travel should feel like coming home.
