From MetraMarket, walk about 15 minutes to Union Station, Chicago’s main transit hub. Here, you can board the Blue Line or Green Line trains for quick access to major destinations like Michigan Avenue, Millennium Park, and the Art Institute.

Union Station itself is a historic landmark with stunning vaulted ceilings and boutique shops—ideal for a brief break. For a more convenient option, use ride-sharing apps like Uber or Lyft, which take around 10 minutes and cost approximately $15–$20.

We recommend downloading the CTA Official App to check real-time train schedules and optimize your journey—ensuring a smooth and stress-free trip.

MetraMarket is more than a grocery stop—it's a cultural hub showcasing Chicago’s community spirit. Every Saturday morning, the market hosts a bustling farmers’ market featuring over 50 local vendors offering artisanal cheese, blackberry jam, craft beer, and handmade goods.

Live music performances by jazz and folk bands create a warm, neighborhood vibe. The market also includes a free cooking demo zone, where local chefs teach visitors how to make classic dishes like deep-dish pizza and Chicago-style hot dogs.

Additionally, guided tours of the on-site urban garden reveal innovative sustainability practices such as vertical farming and rainwater harvesting. These hands-on experiences offer an authentic glimpse into Chicago’s local identity and innovative community living.

Absolutely. The MetraMarket area is ideal for families, offering a safe, welcoming environment with ample family-friendly amenities. Nearby South Side Children’s Park features slides, sand pits, and outdoor play zones perfect for kids to burn off energy.

The adjacent Chicago Public Library Branch provides free children’s reading corners and regular parent-child workshops. Local eateries like Mama’s Kitchen and Brew & Bites offer high chairs, kid-friendly menus, and healthy meal options.

With excellent transit links, families can easily reach top attractions such as the Chicago Museum of Science & Industry and Zoo via the Blue Line in under 30 minutes. The area seamlessly blends daily life charm with recreational convenience, making it a prime base for families seeking authentic Chicago experiences.

Near MetraMarket in Chicago, Hyatt House Chicago/Milwaukee Avenue is a top choice, just a 5-minute walk from the market. It offers modern rooms, complimentary breakfast, and free Wi-Fi. Its prime location provides easy access to the Blue Line train station, connecting you quickly to Michigan Avenue, Chicago Union Station, and Millennium Park.

The easiest way to reach MetraMarket from downtown Chicago is via the Blue Line train. Board at Clark/Lake Station, head toward Forest Glen, and exit at Milwaukee Ave Station, a 3-minute walk from the market. The trip takes about 15 minutes and costs only $2.50.

Alternatively, take CTA Bus #60, which runs along North Ave and stops near Milwaukee Ave, though travel time may vary due to traffic.

Rideshare options like Uber or Lyft take approximately 10 minutes and cost $12–$18, ideal for travelers with luggage or groups. However, the Blue Line remains the most efficient and affordable choice, avoiding downtown congestion. Use a Ventra card or mobile app for seamless ticketing and faster boarding.

Near MetraMarket, visitors can enjoy a range of unique experiences: start your day at the weekend farmers' market, sampling organic produce, artisanal bread, and freshly brewed coffee from local vendors.

Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile

Staying at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile was an absolute highlight of my trip! I used the Chicago City Pass, and the hotel’s location is perfect—so many attractions are just a short walk away, from shopping to iconic landmarks. If you're driving, I highly recommend booking parking through SpotHero instead of relying on in-hotel parking; it's more affordable and easier to manage. The hotel’s front doors open right into a lively area with nearby options like Hollands Foods—great for quick, budget-friendly meals. Breakfast was solid, with a good variety of hot and cold items. The only minor downside? Cell reception isn’t always strong, probably due to the building’s height and thick walls, but it didn’t ruin the experience. I originally planned to stay just one night, but the convenience and vibe were so great that I extended my stay by another night. If you're visiting Chicago and want a central, hassle-free base with excellent access to everything, this hotel is a top choice.

Staying in room 2001 at Sentral Michigan Avenue was an absolute highlight of my trip to Chicago! The view from the window was breathtaking—perfectly capturing the city skyline, especially at night. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome, offering genuine care and attention throughout my stay. From check-in to checkout, they were friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist. The apartment itself was well-equipped with everything I needed: a fully functional kitchenette, high-quality bedding, a powerful coffee maker, and even a steamer for clothes. The Wheeler Mansion

We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend getaway with my girlfriends at The Wheeler Mansion. From the moment we arrived, the elegance and charm of this boutique hotel set the tone for an unforgettable stay. Each room was uniquely decorated with distinctive artwork and vintage touches—no two spaces felt the same. The grand foyer and beautifully furnished living and dining areas made us feel like we’d stepped into a storybook. David, our concierge, went above and beyond—he was attentive, friendly, and even drove us to the theater for our show, Hairspray. He also recommended dinner at Pilsen Yards, which turned out to be one of the best meals of the trip: delicious food and top-notch service. We left feeling completely refreshed and inspired. I can’t wait to return, especially in summer when the grounds are in full bloom—just looking at the photos, it’s clear this place is even more magical in warmer weather.

Cambria Hotel Chicago Loop - Theatre District

The hotel's location is excellent—just a short walk from the theatre district and downtown Chicago, making it super convenient for exploring the city. The staff are friendly and welcoming, with genuine smiles that make your stay more enjoyable. I especially loved the complimentary morning coffee—it’s such a nice touch to start the day right. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and well-maintained, with a cozy atmosphere that makes you want to relax. There’s parking available, though it’s a bit pricey—understandable given the prime location, but could be slightly more competitive. One small suggestion: after staying for two nights, I’d have appreciated fresh towels being changed daily, as they weren’t replaced during my visit. That said, this is a minor detail in an otherwise outstanding experience. Overall, the value for money is great, and I’d definitely return.

Kasa South Loop Chicago

Staying at Kasa South Loop Chicago was exactly what my family needed during our temporary transition between apartments. The location is incredibly convenient—just a short walk to public transit and surrounded by great dining options. We appreciated the clean, modern space and how well-organized everything was. One small suggestion: consider using soaps and shampoos that don’t contain coconut oil, as it’s a common allergen for many guests—including my partner. Luckily, there was a grocery store nearby where we could easily pick up alternative products. Overall, the experience was fantastic, and we’d definitely stay here again when in town.

Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile

Staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Chicago Downtown/Magnificent Mile was an absolute delight, especially for someone who loves walking. The location is unbeatable—everything I wanted to see, from the Magnificent Mile to Millennium Park, was within a 3-kilometer radius and easily reachable on foot. That’s a dream for a walking enthusiast like me. Right across the street is a massive supermarket with everything you could need—groceries, snacks, toiletries—and it stays open until well past 11 PM, which is perfect for late-night essentials. On the ground floor, there’s an UNO’s Pizza that’s always packed, open until 11 PM too, and just a short 3-minute walk away is a fantastic seafood restaurant—delicious food, though a bit pricey, but totally worth it. The Red Line subway is literally right outside the hotel entrance, making travel to Midway Airport super convenient. Just transfer once to the Orange Line, then walk five minutes—entirely indoors, so no worries about rain or bad weather. The room itself was spacious, clean, and modernly decorated, typical of U.S. hotels where space isn’t an issue like in Southeast Asia. Room amenities were excellent: coffee maker, safe, mini-fridge (though keep in mind it only makes ice—my milk and yogurt froze solid! 😂), microwave, and even a full ironing board. I took advantage of that to press all my clothes before heading home—huge plus. Housekeeping comes every other day, which is standard, but any request via phone gets handled quickly. The only thing to note: if you’re sensitive to noise, bring earplugs—there are occasional late-night sirens from patrol cars, but nothing disruptive. Overall, this hotel delivers incredible value, great convenience, and a comfortable stay in the heart of downtown Chicago. If I ever return to the city, I’d absolutely book here again.

Hyatt House Chicago Medical/University District

This is my third stay at this hotel, and I can confidently say it’s become a favorite whenever I visit Chicago. The room is consistently spacious and comfortable, and this time around, the mattress was especially cozy—felt like I slept through the night without a single disturbance. Woke up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day. The breakfast options are a bit limited and don’t vary much, but everything is fresh and well-prepared. It’s not gourmet, but it’s satisfying and reliable. The location is fantastic—close to the medical campus and downtown, with easy access to public transit. For the price and overall experience, it’s an excellent choice. Definitely coming back next time.

If you’re visiting Chicago, this is the perfect base for a memorable trip. Highly recommend it!
