There are plenty of activities within the resort grounds, and nearby attractions like the skybridge and Oriental Village are just a short shuttle ride away (the resort offers complimentary one-way transfers). While the room itself shows signs of age, the housekeeping team does an outstanding job—everything was spotless, no unpleasant odors, and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. The only minor issue was small gaps around the door that allowed geckos to enter. One large one even made the bathroom its home! Thankfully, the front desk was responsive, and security came late at night to assist with the search, though it had already disappeared. The next day, I spotted another one sneaking through the gap—there’s a brush at the bottom of the door, but it doesn’t seal completely. I improvised with towels until I found a better solution. Just a short walk away, you’ll find the main road lined with vibrant local eateries offering delicious, affordable food. Friendly families and villagers are everywhere—warm, welcoming, and full of character. Nearby, there’s a beautiful mosque and a wooden jetty where locals gather daily to watch the sunset—a peaceful, picturesque moment. We loved being off the beaten path, far from crowded beaches filled with overpriced souvenirs and tourist traps. Getting around was easy thanks to Grab (the local ride-hailing app), which we found reliable and affordable. Our hostess Patty was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and genuinely interested in making our stay comfortable. She shared great tips about hidden gems and local culture. Overall, our two-night stay was relaxing, meaningful, and truly memorable. If you’re looking for something real—not just a photo op—this place is perfect.
