Huguosi Hotel

Staying at Huguosi Hotel was an absolute delight from the moment I arrived. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, embodying that genuine Beijing hospitality—friendly, respectful, and thoughtful in every way. The hotel itself is a true reflection of classic Chinese design, with elegant woodwork, traditional furnishings, and a serene atmosphere that instantly transports you into a quieter, more authentic side of Beijing. Located just steps away from Shichahai and close to Beihai Park, it’s perfect for those who want to explore old Beijing on foot. Wandering through the nearby hutongs at sunset, sipping tea in a quiet courtyard, or enjoying a peaceful morning by the lake—it all feels so real and immersive. The neighborhood is safe, charming, and full of character. For anyone looking to experience the soul of Beijing beyond the tourist spots, this place offers an unforgettable stay. Truly one of the most memorable stays I’ve had in China.

Grand Hotel Yuanshan

I was thoroughly satisfied with my stay and ended up extending my booking for a few extra days! The room size was just right, filled with natural light and very quiet—perfect for a good night’s sleep. The staff were incredibly helpful; when I felt unwell and had trouble staying warm, they promptly arranged a space heater for me—such a thoughtful touch. If you're driving, parking is available, and the EV charging station is conveniently close. Located near the Third Ring Road, there are several excellent restaurants within walking distance—like Siji Tongtang, Donglaishun, Huangsi Lurou, and Tongguo Shuanniu—all highly recommended and delicious. There's also a small convenience store downstairs and a local market nearby for fresh groceries. While breakfast options are limited, we usually hit the sightseeing spots early in the morning, so we found street vendors along the way easily enough. Getting to the Forbidden City via subway takes only six stops, and exiting at Donghua Gate means minimal queues. For the Great Wall, bus 877 gets you there comfortably. Overall, the location is fantastic—central yet peaceful, and everything feels accessible. This hotel offers exceptional value, and I’d definitely come back.

Location-wise, being just steps from Nanluoguxiang and within walking distance to Houhai is unbeatable. Everything you’d want—restaurants, shops, attractions—is nearby, and public transit access is super convenient. Best of all, the price was incredibly reasonable for such a high-quality experience. Donghua Hotel Beijing (Tian'anmen Wangfujing Branch)

This hotel's location is unbeatable—just a short walk from Wangfujing, with Sishiminfu right next door. I didn’t even need to wake up early; I walked straight to the Forbidden City in the morning and grabbed breakfast along the way. Perfect for sightseeing! The rooms are a bit dated, but spotlessly clean—no complaints there. What really stood out was the staff’s attention to detail: when I checked in, they mentioned the air conditioning had already been turned on. That little touch made such a difference! As a representative office for my hometown in Beijing, I felt it was important to support this place. Honestly, while the property isn’t brand new, the facilities are well-maintained and surprisingly impressive compared to many standard five-star hotels in Beijing. The room was spotless and well-maintained, with a clean, calming atmosphere that made it easy to unwind after a long day of sightseeing. Breakfast was a highlight—abundant variety and delicious flavors, especially the homemade bread and warm porridge. The lobby and common areas have a beautifully traditional design with a classic charm that really stands out. Best of all, the staff greeted guests warmly from the moment you step in—friendly, polite, and attentive without being intrusive. It truly feels like coming home. I also loved how close we were to Jingshan Park; just a 10-minute walk, and the view of the Forbidden City from the top is absolutely breathtaking. Overall, this was an exceptional stay. Beijing Lezai Nanluo Boutique Hotel

This hotel completely exceeded my expectations! Located right in the heart of Nanluoguxiang, it’s surprisingly peaceful despite being surrounded by all the hustle and bustle. I stayed in the courtyard king room, and the moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the unique design. Lying in bed, I could see the open sky through the adjustable skylight — so serene and inspiring. The rooftop terrace is a real highlight, offering fantastic views and complete privacy. Even in winter, the room stayed cozy thanks to the underfloor heating — no chilly floors at all. The staff were incredibly thoughtful too; they helped carry our luggage upstairs without hesitation. And if you’re ever hungry, the ground-floor dining area serves up warm, comforting meals anytime — I had a steaming bowl of noodles that hit the spot. From the ambiance to the service, everything felt personal and authentic. A truly memorable stay, and I’ll definitely be back.

Surrounded by local residences and featuring a small courtyard, it offers a genuine taste of traditional hutong culture—peaceful, charming, and full of character. Wohkoon Traveling Sun Youth Hostel (Beijing Shichahai Store)

I stayed at Wohkoon Traveling Sun Youth Hostel in Beijing's Shichahai area and had an absolutely fantastic experience. The location is unbeatable—just steps away from major attractions and super easy to get around by subway or on foot. The staff, especially Xiao Yang, were incredibly friendly and helpful, making the whole stay more enjoyable. I really loved the basement lounge—it’s spacious, well-designed, and perfect for relaxing or reading with a cup of tea. The bathroom facilities are fully equipped, and having a shower cubicle was a big plus, though the drain is slightly inconveniently placed near the clothes storage area, so the dry/wet separation isn’t ideal. My triple bunk room was cozy and smartly arranged—each bed has its own bedside lamp, privacy curtain, and small personal space with a handy shelf. It felt secure and private despite being a shared room. Honestly, I was so happy with my stay that I extended my trip by one extra day just to linger longer. This hostel nails cleanliness, comfort, safety, and value—all key elements for a great budget-friendly stay. If you're looking for a welcoming, authentic youth hostel experience in Beijing, this is definitely worth trying. More people should give hostels a chance—there’s so much warmth and connection to be found beyond the stereotypes.
