We stayed at Like Home Cisanello for four days in a studio apartment. The location was excellent—extremely close to the hospital and with convenient on-site parking, which made things much easier during our visit. The room was spacious and, in theory, well-equipped, including a coffee machine and plenty of coffee pods—great for making morning brews. However, reality didn’t match expectations. Despite reading positive reviews, the apartment showed signs of neglect: visible marks on the walls, inconsistent cleaning standards, and even after requesting assistance following a medical procedure, the housekeeping response was delayed. The air conditioning was another major disappointment—it was noisy and only cooled one room effectively, while the rest remained uncomfortably warm. Even though it’s a Samsung unit (a brand known for quality), the performance was underwhelming. Overall, the experience fell short of what we hoped for. While the proximity to the hospital is a definite plus, the overall comfort and cleanliness could definitely be improved. Not something I’d recommend unless you’re specifically looking for a hospital-adjacent stay.

Staying at Da Debby was a bit of a disappointment despite its convenient location near the hospital, ferry terminal, and nearby supermarkets. The bed was comfortable with clean linens, but the blanket looked used and hadn’t been refreshed—definitely not hygienic. The bathroom was tidy, but the shower area had visible mold, and someone had started using toilet paper without replacing it. There were no small soap dispensers, and no towel rack in sight. In the kitchen, we found no dishwashing detergent—even in small amounts—and absolutely no decent sponge for washing dishes. Cleaning overall left much to be desired. Outside on the balcony, there was a locked washing machine with clothes still inside, which was awkward and unprofessional. We booked for three people—a couple and our 11-year-old son—but the only option for him was a very uncomfortable sofa that opened into two, leaving a deep gap down the middle where he couldn’t sleep properly. We ended up bringing our own pillows, as the ones provided were thin and lumpy. The apartment is on the sixth floor of an older building in a fairly busy neighborhood, so we felt unsafe leaving anything in the car. Since we needed to catch an early morning ferry, we had to carry all our luggage in and out every day—very inconvenient. And to top it off, our neighbor was a noisy Indian myna bird that chattered nonstop from dawn till dusk. It was distracting and annoying. Overall, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. Poor maintenance, lack of basic amenities, and constant disruptions made this stay unpleasant. I won’t be returning.

The air conditioning was a lifesaver, especially for us Irish folks braving temperatures over 28°C. There’s a vending machine right on-site for bottled water if you prefer not to drink tap water, and Penny supermarket is literally just steps away—super convenient. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the utensils you’d need, so we didn’t have to waste time searching for breakfast essentials. Plus, there’s a lovely little café right next door—perfect for a morning coffee or quick bite. The shutters are excellent at keeping out heat and light, making the room cool and comfortable. The shower might be small, but the water pressure is powerful and refreshing—plus, fresh towels and hotel-quality shampoo and body wash were provided. The staff at reception were incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming. And let’s not forget the two stunning aquariums inside—their presence adds such a peaceful touch. Bonus points: I accidentally left my earphones behind, and instead of just waiting for me to notice, they contacted me and even came to find me in the city after we’d checked out!
