For a memorable experience, visit during morning or evening hours when sunlight streams through the stained-glass windows, creating a mystical ambiance. The basilica also hosts regular classical concerts and guided tours; check the official schedule in advance to enrich your cultural visit.

Around Place Royale, must-try experiences include attending a pipe organ concert at the Notre-Dame Basilica, held weekly, where the grand 1867 organ echoes through the cathedral’s soaring vaults—a true auditory masterpiece.

Join a guided walking tour of Old Montreal, led by local historians, uncovering stories of French colonial architecture and the fusion of British and French heritage. Just steps away, explore RÉSO, the world’s largest underground shopping and transit complex, connecting malls, theaters, and metro lines—accessible directly from Place Royale.

During summer, catch live performances at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, with street musicians filling nearby squares with vibrant rhythms. Don’t miss sampling Quebec-made maple liqueur or artisanal chocolates as souvenirs—true taste of the region’s culture and craftsmanship.

For families traveling with kids, the Marriott Montreal Downtown is an excellent choice, located just a 10-minute walk east of Place Royale and adjacent to Mount Royal Park. The hotel offers spacious family rooms, indoor swimming pools, game rooms, and dedicated children’s activity zones.

It features a French-inspired restaurant and a generous buffet breakfast with local specialties like maple syrup, cheese platters, and vanilla bread—perfect for picky eaters. With direct access to the Place d’Armes Metro Station, families can easily reach top attractions such as the Montreal Science Museum, Place du Canada, and the vast RÉSO underground network.

Le Westin Montreal

The location of Le Westin Montreal is absolutely fantastic—super convenient for getting around, and even on June 29th when it was raining, I could still catch a stunning view of the Rocky Mountains right from the hotel entrance. The room was spotless, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I was assigned a room that required walking down a short flight of stairs after exiting the elevator, which made carrying luggage a bit tricky—but honestly, not a big deal. The quiet setting and unique layout added charm to the stay. Overall, an exceptional experience with great value, and I’d definitely return.

Modern Suites in Ndg

We stayed with four people and were pleasantly surprised by the place. The unit was clean, well-maintained, and stylishly decorated with a modern touch—definitely exceeded our expectations. The only minor issue was a faint smell in the hallway and some sound transmission between units, so you can hear a bit of activity from neighboring apartments. However, this didn’t detract from the overall experience. The location is convenient, close to transit options, and the room layout worked perfectly for our group. We’d definitely stay here again.

The Xavier Boutique- Old Montreal

Absolutely incredible value for the price! This was one of the best stays I've had in Montreal, especially considering how affordable it was. We booked a spacious apartment-style room for two, and it was perfect—plenty of space, clean, and located just steps away from Old Montreal's charming streets and attractions. The neighborhood is walkable and full of great cafes and local shops, so we didn’t need to rely on public transit at all. There was a faint odd smell when we first arrived, but airing it out fixed it right away—no real issue. Communication with the team was a bit slow at first, but honestly, given how low the price was, that’s a minor gripe. Overall, an outstanding experience with no regrets. If you’re looking for comfort, convenience, and a solid deal, this place is a must-try.

Les Lofts du Plateau

This place is absolutely perfect. From the moment we walked in, everything felt thoughtfully designed and incredibly comfortable. The beds were heavenly—so supportive and cozy, I slept better than I have in weeks. The layout is spacious and open, with a modern, artistic aesthetic that really makes the space feel special. We loved the neighborhood—quiet but lively, with great cafes and local shops just steps away. But the real game-changer? Off-street parking with a private back entrance to the apartment. No hassle finding a spot, and that extra privacy made all the difference. It felt like staying in a stylish urban retreat, not a hotel. Every detail was considered, and it shows. Five stars without hesitation—this is exactly what a great stay should be.

Les Lofts du Mont Royal

The hotel is absolutely fantastic—spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed with a unique loft charm. The location is unbeatable, just a short walk from downtown Montreal’s best spots, and everything you need is within easy reach. While navigating the stairs with luggage and kids was a bit challenging, it’s a small trade-off for such a great stay. The comfort, ambiance, and attention to detail made our trip unforgettable. Highly recommend for travelers looking for a stylish, central base in Montreal.

The Saint Lofts

This place was a total disaster from start to finish. The building looked run-down, and the front door was blocked by overflowing trash bins—no joke. Inside the room, mold was everywhere, especially around the windows and bathroom, giving off a sickening, musty smell that lingered in the air. The owner was nearly impossible to reach, and when I finally got through, they smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, which made the whole experience even more unpleasant. Despite being in Old Montreal, getting there was a hassle, with no clear signage or easy access. This wasn’t just bad—it felt like a scam. I’ve stayed in plenty of budget places before, but this one crossed every line. Avoid at all costs.

Burgundy Lofts - Marché Atwater

The location is definitely a strong point—just steps from a metro station, making downtown easily accessible. There are plenty of great dining spots nearby, and the area feels lively with the Atwater Market and the canal right outside. I really enjoyed the neighborhood vibe. That said, we stayed over a weekend and found it a bit noisy, especially late at night. The room didn’t quite live up to the photos—some details looked worn, and the overall feel wasn’t very cozy or homey. It’s decent for the price, but not as welcoming as expected.

Montreal Convention Center Apartments

Our stay at Mosaique on Rue de la Gauchetiere was absolutely terrible—far below any acceptable standard, and definitely not worth even one star. From the moment we walked into the apartment, we were met with a long list of serious issues. The floors were filthy, clearly never cleaned before our arrival. Windows were covered in grime, and the air conditioning units were clogged with dust, making them extremely loud—like a broken airplane engine—so loud that we couldn’t sleep at night. One window in the living room had no shutters at all, just a missing frame that looked like it had been ripped off. There was a large stain on the floor near the front door, and the wooden board underneath was uneven. The toilet kept leaking water after flushing, creating constant noise that disrupted our rest. No curtains were provided—only flimsy blinds that collapsed every time we tried to open or close them. The smell of food was so strong when we arrived that we had to keep all windows open just to breathe. We found blood stains on both the mattress and pillowcase—this is unacceptable. Dangerous wires were hanging loose from the AC unit on the floor. The dining room chair was broken and made of cheap plastic. There was zero storage space: only two tiny closets, one of which contained cleaning tools like a mop and bucket. The bed was too small for two people, despite the room being spacious enough for a larger one. There was only one small side table in the bedroom—why not include two? The photos used during booking were completely misleading—the building looks nothing like the images shown; the view is just a brick wall, and very little natural light enters. The company name suggests a high-end corporate experience, but the reality is far from it—cheap furniture, minimal kitchen supplies, and even no tissues. The towels in the bathroom were rough and unusable. To top it off, the prices were exorbitant for a two-week stay, with a high security deposit and cleaning fee. This entire experience has been a nightmare. We’re still waiting for a resolution from Corporate Stays and have attached photos as proof. We cannot recommend this property under any circumstances.

The hotel itself feels modern and thoughtfully designed, with clean, spacious rooms and excellent comfort, especially the bed—perfectly balanced for a restful night’s sleep. Staff were friendly and attentive, even upgraded my room without any hassle. What really stood out was how much value you get for the price—luxury amenities without the luxury price tag. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Montreal.
