Definitely planning to come back next Labor Day weekend—this is now one of my favorite coastal hideaways.

Tower 23 Hotel is an absolute gem! Right on the beach, it’s incredibly convenient for exploring San Diego. The rooms are well-appointed and super comfortable—everything you’d need for a relaxing seaside stay. They even provide all the essentials at reception for beach time, from umbrellas to loungers, so you don’t have to bring a thing. The views of the ocean with surfers riding the waves in the early morning and evening are simply breathtaking. It’s peaceful, beautiful, and truly unforgettable. I can’t recommend this place enough—definitely booking again!

Staying at Ocean Park Inn was a great experience overall. The room was clean and comfortable, though we did notice some noise from the laundry area next door, as guests started using machines as early as 6 a.m. If you're sensitive to early morning sounds, I’d recommend requesting a quieter room on the opposite side of the building—especially since that side faces a very busy square. Parking is also quite expensive, so if you’re driving, be prepared for higher costs. Despite those small drawbacks, the hotel offers excellent value for money, especially for families or travelers looking for a relaxed base with easy access to outdoor activities. I’d definitely stay here again.

The bedding was a bit heavy for the warm weather—thick sheets made sleeping uncomfortable—and the pillows lacked loft, leaving me tossing and turning. Overall, it was an okay place to spend one night if you’re just passing through, but I wouldn’t consider staying longer. For budget travelers looking for a no-frills base, it’s functional, but don’t expect charm or comfort beyond the basics.
