Villa Alfonsina

Staying at Villa Alfonsina was an absolute delight. Nestled in the charming neighborhood of Coyoacán, this beautifully preserved late 19th-century villa is surrounded by tall cypress trees, creating a serene oasis right in the heart of Mexico City. The warm orange walls, spacious rooms, and elegant black iron-framed windows blend timeless charm with subtle modernity—every detail feels intentional and inviting. But what truly made my stay unforgettable were the hosts, Hector and Minerva—kind, thoughtful, and genuinely welcoming. They went out of their way to personally drive me to the airport, which meant more than words can say. I genuinely felt sad saying goodbye. Benjamin, who works at the villa, also added to the warmth with his quiet but attentive hospitality. From the ambiance to the people, every aspect of this experience felt authentic and special. If you're looking for a peaceful, character-filled retreat with heartfelt service, this place is absolutely worth it.

Ayenda Casa Gubidxa

Staying at Ayenda Casa Gubidxa in the heart of Condesa was a real highlight of my trip to Mexico City. The location is unbeatable—walkable to great restaurants, trendy cafes, and local shops. The place itself is clean, well-maintained, and offers a cozy, homey vibe that’s perfect for budget travelers who still want comfort. I did have a bit of a tricky time checking in late at night since communication with the hosts wasn’t immediate, which is why I’d rate the service slightly lower—but honestly, that didn’t ruin the experience. Overall, this is a fantastic option if you’re looking for a quiet, comfortable stay in a vibrant neighborhood without breaking the bank. I’d definitely recommend it.

Anys Hostal

Honestly, this place has clearly declined over the past few years. We were looking for something different from a typical hotel, so we chose Anys Hostal based on its positive reviews and reputation for warm hospitality—big mistake. The experience was far below what we expected. We arrived late (around 10 PM) due to a delayed flight, so check-in was quick and impersonal—no welcome, no info about the property or surrounding area. Worse, we never saw anyone at the front desk during our entire stay. Our room door didn’t lock properly—the latch kept slipping down, forcing us to use toilet paper just to keep it closed. And since there was no one around, we couldn’t even report it. The room itself was shockingly basic: only one tiny bar of soap, extremely small towels, and absolutely no extra toilet paper. Water pressure was terrible, and there was long black hair clogging the showerhead. No welcome note, no local tips, not even a simple map. Just… nothing. The bathroom had a musty smell, and the sink drain had no cover—my makeup cap fell in and vanished forever. I’ve stayed at many budget hostels and hotels worldwide, but this is among the worst. The water container was refilled only once after being emptied. It’s obvious this place has fallen into disrepair—poor maintenance, zero staff presence, and no sense of hospitality. The reviews don’t reflect reality. If you’re looking for a clean, safe, and decently run hostel, skip this one.

What truly sets this place apart is the staff—warm, attentive, and fluent in both Spanish and English. They go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and memorable. Whether it’s recommendations for local spots or help with travel plans, they’re always ready to assist. The rooms are clean, well-maintained, and full of charm. It’s rare to find such genuine hospitality combined with great location and value. I couldn’t recommend this hotel more—it’s not just a place to stay, it’s a highlight of your trip.
