Staying at this hotel was an absolute delight from start to finish. Staying at Dong Fang Hotel was an absolute delight from start to finish. The location is unbeatable—just a short walk from Tiananmen Square and the Temple of Heaven, making it perfect for exploring Beijing’s historic heart. I loved how convenient everything was: right outside the door, there’s a century-old restaurant called Kao Rou Liu, and across the street is a dedicated Zhang Yiyuan tea shop—ideal for picking up a local souvenir. While the room furnishings are a bit dated, cleanliness was top-notch, and the view from the window? Directly overlooking the Temple of Heaven—truly unforgettable. The front desk staff went above and beyond; they even allowed us early check-in when we arrived early in the chilly winter weather, which made our day so much warmer (literally and figuratively). The second-floor Chinese restaurant served generous portions with authentic flavors at very reasonable prices—perfect for a satisfying meal after a long day of sightseeing. Beyond comfort and food, what stood out most was the hotel’s rich cultural heritage.
