Beyond performances of traditional Cantonese opera and modern drama, Nansha Theatre hosts regular Nanyin Heritage Workshops led by national intangible cultural heritage masters. Participants learn vocal techniques and movement styles, wear authentic costumes for commemorative photos, and receive a limited-edition Nanyin Manuscript booklet.
Adjacent to the theatre, the Nansha Cultural Square hosts weekend open-air markets featuring local artisans showcasing pottery, paper-cutting, and bamboo weaving, alongside street food favorites like salted water dumplings and scallion oil buns. The central "Light & Shadow Corridor" uses projection technology to replay historical footage of Nansha over the past century, paired with audio narration for an immersive journey through urban memory.
Additionally, in collaboration with Guangzhou Museum of Art, the theatre presents the "Stage & Gallery Dialogue" series, where stage set designs are displayed alongside contemporary artworks. Curator-led tours are offered during exhibition periods, providing deep insights into the creative process. These experiences allow visitors to engage fully with Nansha’s distinct Lingnan cultural identity beyond the performance itself.
