I personally stayed in three different room types, all recently renovated, and each one exceeded expectations in comfort and style. The staff went above and beyond—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, especially during extended stays. The on-site Indian restaurant offers authentic cuisine at incredibly reasonable prices, even more affordable than typical U.S. rates, and room service is available from the same menu. There’s also a dedicated bar area perfect for watching sports, enjoying a drink, or grabbing a bite. Located just a short ride away from major tourist spots and the airport, it’s convenient without sacrificing comfort. If you’re visiting Kolkata, don’t hesitate—book your stay here. This is hands down the dirtiest, most unhygienic hotel I've ever stayed in during my 32 years of traveling. The photos online are completely misleading—what you see in pictures bears no resemblance to reality. The rooms were filthy, with torn mattresses and stained bed sheets. Empty cans and bottles were scattered all over the hallways, and the overall cleanliness was shocking. The staff seemed indifferent and unresponsive, showing no concern for guests or basic hygiene standards. This place poses serious safety and health risks and should be shut down immediately. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a decent, clean stay.
FabHotel Luxury Stay
This hotel is a complete disappointment. The price listed on the platform was ₹406.45, but upon check-in, I was unexpectedly asked to pay an extra ₹1,000. While the platform stepped in to coordinate and cover the difference, the hotel promised to refund the overpayment at checkout. Unfortunately, no refund was issued when it was time to leave—zero follow-up, zero response. The room itself was poorly maintained, outdated, and far below expectations. It’s not worth being listed at all—it damages guest trust and credibility. I strongly advise against using this property. Save your money and avoid the hassle.

Returning to Calcutta Bungalow after two years was just as magical as the first time — and even better. Despite arriving late at night due to flight delays, the welcome was flawless from start to finish, down to every little detail of how they anticipated our needs. Since my last trip to Kolkata, I’ve been certain: if I’m staying in Kolkata again, this is the only place I’ll choose. The surrounding streets are full of character, and from the rooftop terrace, you can truly feel the rhythm of city life. The restored building is more than just historic — it’s a living space that fills you with calm and presence. It’s not just renovation; it’s artistic reinvention. The staff were once again incredibly kind and attentive, exceeding expectations. Breakfast on the rooftop was a highlight: fresh coconut juice with papaya, and delicious desserts too. My favorite was the mildly spiced lentil curry with raisins and cashews — perfectly balanced and comforting. The choice between Bengali and continental breakfast was perfect for my partner, who isn’t used to local flavors. Though I couldn’t join friends for dinner this time, the room service evening snack was unexpectedly satisfying. I ordered something light — but ended up with a hearty pizza and penne pasta that felt like a proper meal. And the cold coffee? Even better than before — I kept ordering it every time I came back from exploring. This trip began in Kolkata, took me to visit friends in Bangladesh, and brought me back to the same city before heading home. Naturally, the final stop had to be Calcutta Bungalow. If you love Kolkata, this is a must-stay. The photos include Room 2 and Room 3, where I stayed during the final days. Before flying home, I soaked in a hot bath — the perfect way to release all the travel fatigue.
