Staying at Hampton by Hilton Lijiang Old Town was an absolute delight. Located just a 3-kilometer drive from the historic city center, getting around was super convenient—whether by taxi or public transit, it’s all easy and stress-free. The staff went above and beyond with their warm, friendly service, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. Even though the hotel opened in 2019, it still feels fresh and well-maintained throughout. Best surprise? Our room was upgraded to a mountain-view room at no extra cost—waking up to sunrise over Jade Dragon Snow Mountain was nothing short of magical. The breakfast buffet was excellent too: diverse, delicious, and full of local flavors. For the price, the value is outstanding. Lijiang Ancient City Huajianfu·Yinchan
We were originally booked into Yinchan, but due to heritage building maintenance, we were upgraded to the Zhiji Suite instead. This review is based on our stay at Zhiji. The historic architecture and courtyard are absolutely beautiful—perfect for photos and soaking in the local charm. However, the room’s amenities were underwhelming—definitely not up to par with a full-service chain like Quanji. The bedding didn’t feel like what I’d expect from Huazhu Club either. That said, the staff member Xiao Zhang was exceptional—always present, attentive, and genuinely warm. There was also a tiny adorable dog named Xuebi who added so much character to the experience. What really frustrated me was the misleading info: I personally checked Yinchan’s courtyard and found it wasn’t under maintenance at all—it was actually rented out, and there were newborn kittens inside. Several guests had been moved here from Yinchan, which made the situation even more confusing. I gave five stars purely because of the outstanding service—no way I wanted to cause any trouble for such a thoughtful team. If you value hospitality and authenticity over luxury fittings, this place still offers a unique, heartfelt stay in Lijiang’s ancient city.

If you’re up early, you can even walk through the park to catch that iconic shot of Jade Snow Mountain glowing in the sunrise. The hotel has its own private parking lot—perfect for drivers like us who came by car. Plus, they upgraded our room at no extra cost, which was a lovely surprise. We also appreciated the on-site laundry facility—after a long trek from Tiger Leaping Gorge, we were able to wash our muddy clothes the same night. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. Staff were friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Absolutely recommend this gem of a stay! The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet, just a 2-minute walk from the north gate of Shuhe Ancient Town—perfect location. The room was spotless, with both underfloor heating and air conditioning, plus all amenities you’d want. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom layout made it ideal for families. The ground-floor room has a cozy little courtyard, while the second-floor room features a private balcony with breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains—plus, the rooftop terrace offers even better vantage points. Breakfast was delicious and abundant, and they even serve afternoon tea and warm goji berry soup in the evening—such a thoughtful touch. Every staff member was friendly and attentive. This is hands down one of the best homestays I’ve ever experienced. Comfortable, well-located, and full of charm—definitely coming back!
