Upon arrival, I was pleasantly surprised to find four 500ml bottles of mineral water, along with complimentary snacks and a chocolate waiting in the room—small touches that made a big difference. Even though I arrived late at night, the front desk staff were incredibly friendly and promptly checked me in without any hassle. The room was spacious enough to unpack a large suitcase with ease, and there were plenty of power outlets—perfect for charging devices. The bathroom and toilet were well-separated and kept immaculately clean. Located just steps from a shopping mall, everything I needed was within easy reach. I’d definitely book here again on my next trip to Chennai—great value, warm hospitality, and a truly comfortable stay.

Staying at Raj Palace was an absolute delight. The property is immaculately clean, and the staff went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable—when I asked if they could bring a weighing scale to my room, they delivered it within minutes. The coffee was fresh and delicious, and the breakfast spread was both generous and tasty. Every detail felt thoughtfully curated. The location is convenient for exploring Chennai, with easy access to public transit. This place truly offers exceptional value and hospitality. I’d happily return in a heartbeat.
The Iris Hotel
The stay at The Iris Hotel was pretty underwhelming. The restaurant isn’t functional at all—breakfast is just a pre-packed meal, and if you opted for the lunch/dinner package, it’s only vegetarian options, which limits choices significantly. The elevator was non-operational during our visit, so with my second-floor room, I had to wait for staff to come and unlock the door using a key machine every time—very inconvenient. The room itself was decent in size and cleanliness, but we noticed a few cockroaches, which was disappointing. Looking at the branding and design, it seems like this used to be an Irish-themed hotel that was recently rebranded and taken over by another operator. While the name change might be fresh, the management and upkeep don’t reflect that. Overall, it’s not bad for a quick stopover, but definitely not worth recommending if you’re looking for reliability or comfort. Would not return unless there’s a major upgrade.
