I traveled solo and was initially nervous about heading into the city, but the front desk manager went out of his way to walk me to the station, even taking photos along the way. We ended up chatting like old friends. The whole property radiates timeless elegance—from the grand entrance hall to the serene harbor courtyard. Compared to some nearby luxury hotels that charge double the price, this one offers far better sightlines and no obstructions. Breakfast was an absolute highlight: oyster bar included! As someone who loves raw oysters, I was thrilled. One day, my grilled meat wasn’t quite right—I mentioned it casually, and the kitchen actually re-cooked it for me the next morning. That kind of attention to detail? Rare. There’s also a fine dining restaurant on-site, run by a female chef-owner whose dishes are deeply rooted in cultural storytelling. She once created a dish specifically for Michelle Obama—an incredible touch. It’s clear this place celebrates women’s voices and creativity. After several days here, I can confidently say this is one of my all-time favorite hotels. A true gem.

The lively buzz of the surrounding streets blended seamlessly with the Mediterranean-inspired decor—colorful, inviting, and full of charm. The atmosphere was romantic yet effortlessly relaxed, making it an ideal spot to end our journey. The staff truly cared—attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about food quality and guest well-being. We started with the new burrata and local, in-season tomatoes—a standout dish that stole the show with its freshness and flavor. The curry, camembert, and bobotie were all exceptional, thoughtfully crafted and deeply satisfying. It’s rare to find a restaurant that balances taste, ambiance, and care so perfectly. This wasn’t just dinner—it was a memorable experience. If you’re visiting Cape Town, don’t miss this gem.

Squirrels Way Cottages feels like a true home away from home — we keep coming back because it just hits all the right notes. The sitting room is cozy, the bedroom is peaceful, and the kitchen is fully equipped with a dining table that overlooks the garden and pool — perfect for morning coffee or evening meals. The cottage is immaculate, well-maintained, and always welcoming. Any small issue we’ve had was addressed promptly and professionally. It’s incredibly central — great restaurants, shops, and local spots are just a short drive away. Plus, the park behind the property is lovely for a morning stroll, and being close to cricket and rugby grounds is a bonus if you’re into live sports. Flatrock Suites
Staying at Flatrock Suites was a major disappointment. The hotel is located directly above a nightclub, and the loud music and constant laughter kept going until 6 a.m., making it nearly impossible to sleep. I booked a two-bedroom suite, but only one room had air conditioning— the other had no fan at all, which made it extremely uncomfortable in the heat. To make matters worse, the DSTV service didn’t work, and despite reaching out to the property management team, I received zero support or assistance. There were also no curtains or blinds on the main bedroom door, so sunlight flooded into the room by 5 a.m., disrupting any chance of rest. Overall, the experience was poor, with multiple basic amenities failing and no effort from staff to resolve issues. Definitely not worth it, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Walking into Thirty on Grace, you're greeted with an open, welcoming atmosphere that feels more like a home than a hotel. The lush garden and sparkling pool create such a peaceful retreat right in the heart of Cape Town. Ros, the host, is absolutely wonderful—thoughtful, attentive, but never intrusive. She makes sure every need is met without ever overstepping. I loved the honesty bar—it’s so convenient and adds a nice touch of independence. The coffee machine is top-notch; perfect for morning brews. The rooms are spacious, beautifully furnished, and incredibly comfortable. It’s one of those places you instantly want to return to. If you’re looking for a stylish, relaxed stay with genuine hospitality, this is it.
