Staying at the InterContinental Table Bay Cape Town was hands down one of the most memorable hotel experiences of my life. The room itself is absolutely stunning—overlooking Table Mountain, with breathtaking views every single day. Sunrise, sunset, night lights—it’s like living inside a postcard. I traveled solo and was initially nervous about heading into the city, but the front desk manager went out of his way to walk me to the station, even taking photos along the way. We ended up chatting like old friends. The whole property radiates timeless elegance—from the grand entrance hall to the serene harbor courtyard. Compared to some nearby luxury hotels that charge double the price, this one offers far better sightlines and no obstructions. Breakfast was an absolute highlight: oyster bar included! As someone who loves raw oysters, I was thrilled. One day, my grilled meat wasn’t quite right—I mentioned it casually, and the kitchen actually re-cooked it for me the next morning. That kind of attention to detail? Rare. There’s also a fine dining restaurant on-site, run by a female chef-owner whose dishes are deeply rooted in cultural storytelling. She once created a dish specifically for Michelle Obama—an incredible touch. It’s clear this place celebrates women’s voices and creativity. After several days here, I can confidently say this is one of my all-time favorite hotels. A true gem.
Flatrock Suites
Staying at Flatrock Suites was a major disappointment. The hotel is located directly above a nightclub, and the loud music and constant laughter kept going until 6 a.m., making it nearly impossible to sleep. I booked a two-bedroom suite, but only one room had air conditioning— the other had no fan at all, which made it extremely uncomfortable in the heat. To make matters worse, the DSTV service didn’t work, and despite reaching out to the property management team, I received zero support or assistance. There were also no curtains or blinds on the main bedroom door, so sunlight flooded into the room by 5 a.m., disrupting any chance of rest. Overall, the experience was poor, with multiple basic amenities failing and no effort from staff to resolve issues. Definitely not worth it, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Friendly staff, peaceful atmosphere, and great value for money. I’d highly recommend this guesthouse to anyone visiting Cape Town. It’s definitely a place I’ll come back to.

She makes sure every need is met without ever overstepping. I loved the honesty bar—it’s so convenient and adds a nice touch of independence. The coffee machine is top-notch; perfect for morning brews. The rooms are spacious, beautifully furnished, and incredibly comfortable. It’s one of those places you instantly want to return to. If you’re looking for a stylish, relaxed stay with genuine hospitality, this is it.

But what truly stole the show was the underground whisky bar, boasting an impressive selection that would satisfy even the most discerning connoisseur. The building itself feels secure with reliable entry access to the canal area—perfect for evening strolls. That said, the unit could use a deeper clean occasionally—especially around the kitchen sink, microwave, and tile grout where some buildup is noticeable. While proper laundry detergent was provided, there was no dishwasher-safe soap included, which was a small inconvenience. Overall, the value for money is solid, especially for a central location. One minor suggestion: consider reversing the fridge door’s swing direction so it opens into the kitchen rather than toward the sleeping area. It’s an easy fix with basic tools and would significantly improve daily convenience. A thoughtful upgrade that makes a big difference.
