Staying at the Santa Monica Proper Hotel was an absolute delight. The room was spotless, beautifully designed with a modern touch, and incredibly comfortable. The gym is well-equipped and perfect for a quick workout. I especially loved the complimentary morning tea and light snacks served downstairs—such a nice little treat to start the day. The rooftop pool and restaurant are stunning, offering breathtaking views of the ocean, especially at sunset. The only minor downside is that there are parties on weekends on the upper floors and ground level, which might be noisy if your room is close to the pool area. However, as long as you’re booked away from those zones, it’s completely peaceful. Overall, this place nails the vibe—stylish, relaxed, and full of character. Highly recommend!

From the warm hospitality to the thoughtful touches throughout, this stay exceeded every expectation. I couldn’t recommend the Ambrose more highly.

One thing to note is that the neighborhood can get a bit noisy at night, especially if you leave the window open—something we were aware of and managed accordingly. We felt safe during the day, but walking back late at night, we noticed a few people around who made us cautious. That said, it’s more reflective of the local area than anything the hotel did wrong. Overall, the value for money is excellent, the staff were friendly, and the central location makes it hard to beat. I’d definitely stay here again.
