Thanks to a friend's recommendation, I stayed at Atour Hotel near Kunming Railway Station and was really impressed—especially the bedding. We checked out at 8:30 AM and still made our 9:00 train to Dali without rushing—though we originally thought we’d need to leave by 8:15, the extra half hour made all the difference.
