Our stay at The Houghton Hotel was absolutely exceptional from start to finish. Every detail—from the warm, attentive service and beautifully appointed rooms to the exquisite dining at Nova Bistro and rejuvenating spa treatments—was flawless. A special thanks to Kamo and Blessing in the lobby for their friendly welcome, and to Lovett, Roy, Melissa, Joyce, and the entire kitchen team at Nova Bistro for creating memorable meals. The spa staff truly made our four-day getaway unforgettable. This hotel exceeded all expectations and easily ranks as the best hotel experience we’ve ever had. The only minor issue was that one of the balcony doors in our room lacked curtains or shades, but since we were on the third floor, it didn’t really affect privacy or comfort. Upon arrival, we were met with minimal assistance since we paid online—this seemed to be a point of friction for the staff, leaving us waiting without much support. The room was clean but nothing remarkable—basic furnishings with no real character. We had to ask for toiletries, as none were provided upon check-in, which felt like an oversight. Also, the DSTV service wasn’t activated, so we couldn’t enjoy our usual TV entertainment unless we arranged it separately. While the location is decent and the price was reasonable, the lack of attention to detail and basic guest needs made the experience underwhelming. Not something I’d recommend unless you’re looking for a no-frills, budget option.
