The rooftop view overlooking Ipanema Beach is absolutely breathtaking! Yes, the pool is quite small—perfect for a quick dip or letting kids splash around—but honestly, that view alone makes it worth it. The location is fantastic, just a short walk from everything, and the vibe of the place is so relaxed and welcoming. It’s not about luxury amenities; it’s about that unforgettable panorama and the authentic Rio experience. A must-stay if you want to feel like you’re right in the heart of the city’s energy.

Everything about this place feels thoughtfully put together, and the overall experience was truly memorable. Highly recommended for travelers who value convenience, quality, and a touch of local charm.

Staying at MC Flats Ipanema Beach Star was an absolute delight. The apartment is spacious and perfectly located in the heart of Ipanema—just a short walk to the beach, with a vibrant mix of restaurants, cafes, and local shops right outside the door. I loved how close it was to supermarkets, making grocery runs super convenient. The daily housekeeping service kept everything spotless throughout my stay, and the kitchen had all the essentials I needed for simple meals. Clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully equipped—it felt like home. If you're looking for comfort, convenience, and a great location in Rio, this place is a top choice.

Staying at Hostel Varandas do Maracanã was an absolute highlight of my trip to Rio! The staff, especially Claudia, went above and beyond—so friendly, helpful, and professional. Every interaction felt genuine and welcoming. The hostel is spotless—clean rooms, tidy common areas, and immaculate bathrooms. It’s clear they take pride in their hygiene and upkeep. Location-wise, it couldn’t be better: just cross the street and you’re right in the heart of Maracanã. Everything you need is within walking distance—groceries, a pharmacy, train station, and local eateries. I loved how safe and vibrant the area felt. Breakfast was simple but delicious—fresh fruit, bread, coffee, and juice that made mornings so enjoyable. This place offers amazing value for money and a true local vibe. I returned to Sofitel Rio de Janeiro Ipanema for a two-week stay in December and stayed in an oceanfront king room. This property continues to impress across every aspect—just as I remembered from past visits, and even better this time around. The hotel is impeccably maintained, with elegant interiors and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Staff are genuinely welcoming, always going the extra mile with smiles and thoughtful service. The breakfast buffet offers classic Brazilian flavors with a wide variety of options, though it feels a bit repetitive day after day. A rotating international section—maybe some Asian-inspired dishes—would add welcome variety. The pool area is fantastic: perfect for relaxing during the day, and the evening live entertainment is consistently high-quality and entertaining. I’m especially impressed by the fitness center—it’s one of the best in all of Rio, well-equipped and spacious. Under General Manager Netto Moreira’s leadership, the hotel runs like a well-oiled machine. Every detail reflects care and attention. It’s clear this team takes pride in delivering excellence. For travelers seeking comfort, style, and top-tier hospitality in Ipanema, this is a standout choice.

Unfortunately, my experience was quite negative due to the lack of signage and lighting in the backyard, making the area extremely unsafe for elderly guests and children. I didn’t stay overnight—I only booked a day-use option through the platform for my birthday celebration and that of a close friend. As shown in photo 20, there’s a gap beside the staircase leading down to the yard, which becomes completely invisible at night because there’s no lighting in the area. While descending the stairs, I tripped over the gap and hit my head on a stone, resulting in six stitches above my eyebrow. To clarify—no alcohol was consumed during this incident. This could have easily turned into a much more serious accident. I reported the issue to the couple managing the booking, but they showed no intention to address or fix the hazard. Aside from that, there’s nothing else to comment on since I didn’t actually stay overnight. My only warning to future guests: this property is not recommended for families with young children or older adults due to the significant safety risks.

Staying at Ibis Rio Porto Atlantico was a fantastic choice, especially given its close proximity to GIG Rio de Janeiro International Airport. Located in a well-planned new district, the area boasts wide, clean streets and a notably safer atmosphere compared to other parts of the city. Public transport is convenient—taking trams 1 and 4 to connect with the metro makes it easy to reach major tourist attractions without hassle. What really stood out was that room rates didn’t increase during Carnival season, which is incredibly fair and refreshing. The only minor downside is the lack of nearby restaurants—there’s just one large supermarket within walking distance, so dining options require a short trip. Still, the excellent location, reliable transport links, and great value make this hotel a top recommendation for travelers who prioritize convenience and peace of mind.

We stayed at Gallant Hotel with a group of five, and it was an excellent choice for our trip to Rio. While not located in the South Zone, the hotel's location is surprisingly convenient—just a short walk from the metro station and close to major tourist attractions. The area is quiet and peaceful, making it a great base for exploring the city. The staff were attentive, friendly, and always ready to help. Breakfast was diverse, delicious, and generously served—perfect way to start the day. Overall, we were thoroughly impressed by the comfort, service, and value. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Rio, and I’m already planning to stay here again on our next visit.

Marcos and his wife were absolutely wonderful hosts—warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay in Rio was comfortable and memorable. Marcos speaks fluent English and shared invaluable local insights, from hidden gem restaurants and must-visit attractions to areas to avoid for safety reasons. Their knowledge of the city made our trip so much easier and more enjoyable. We felt truly cared for throughout our visit, and we couldn’t recommend them more highly. If we ever return to Rio, we’d choose them without hesitation.

Daisy truly made my stay exceptional—her warm hospitality and attentive service went above and beyond. As a solo female traveler, I felt completely safe and welcomed throughout my visit. The hostel is perfectly located just steps from the beach, offering easy access to all the vibrant energy of Ipanema while still feeling secure and peaceful. The room was spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with thoughtful touches that made it feel like home. From the moment I arrived, everything was seamless and genuinely enjoyable. If you're looking for a comfortable, friendly, and safe place to stay in Rio, this is it—10 out of 10 without hesitation.

Staying at El Misti Hostel Ipanema was an absolute highlight of my trip to Rio de Janeiro! The location is unbeatable—just a short walk from the beach and surrounded by great cafes, restaurants, and local vibes. The hostel itself is clean, well-maintained, and has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The staff went out of their way to help with recommendations and check-in was smooth and quick. My room was cozy, the bedding was comfortable, and the free Wi-Fi worked perfectly. Everything about this place felt thoughtfully designed for travelers who want a relaxed, authentic experience without breaking the bank.
