The breakfast was exceptional—fresh, abundant, and delicious, with a great mix of local and international options. And the bed? So comfortable I didn’t want to get up! After staying at several hotels in Düsseldorf over the years, this one stands out as the most memorable and enjoyable. If you’re looking for a stylish, well-located, and thoughtfully run boutique stay, this is it.

Staying at Hotel Barbarossa in Düsseldorf was a pleasant experience overall. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, offering plenty of room for luggage and relaxation. The bar isn’t huge, but it’s well-maintained and functional—perfect for a quiet drink after a long day. The bed is large and cozy, though the slatted base is quite soft, so you’ll notice movement if your partner shifts during the night—something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to motion. Breakfast was generous and delicious, with a good variety of options and friendly staff who made the morning start smooth and welcoming. The front desk is open 24/7, which is a big plus for late arrivals or early departures. One thing to note: the fourth floor is only accessible via stairs from the third floor—other floors are served by elevator. It’s a small inconvenience, but easy to adjust to. The stay was underwhelming overall. The apartment only features a bedroom and a large kitchen table—no separate living room, which makes the space feel cramped. The lighting is overly bright and some fixtures don’t work properly. I noticed paper cups being used instead of glassware, which felt like a real oversight in quality control. The balcony overlooks a P-garage, so the view isn’t great. The front side of the building faces a busy tram line and traffic, making mornings noisy and hard to relax. Several faucets were dripping or malfunctioning, clearly needing maintenance. Most disappointing was the price—it’s too high for what’s actually offered. With better value alternatives available nearby, this place doesn’t justify the cost, especially for a short visit. Would not recommend unless you’re on a tight schedule and have no other options.

Location is excellent—just steps away from the S-Bahn station, making it super easy to explore downtown Düsseldorf. The Wi-Fi connection was fast and reliable, and the TV offered a great selection of channels. Every detail felt thoughtfully considered. I can't recommend this hotel enough—it’s a top-tier choice for anyone visiting Düsseldorf.
Hotel Gemini
I strongly advise against staying at Hotel Gemini in Düsseldorf. Our experience was extremely negative and deeply unsettling. When we mentioned that the hot water wasn’t working, instead of a polite response, a housekeeper stormed into our room aggressively, shouted at us, used offensive language, and physically forced us out. The behavior was completely unacceptable—intimidating and disrespectful. We felt unsafe and traumatized throughout the entire incident. This is not just poor service; it’s a serious breach of basic hospitality standards. I’m genuinely scared and disappointed. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, not even as a last resort. If you’re looking for a safe, respectful stay, avoid this place at all costs.
Jugendherberge Düsseldorf
