I’ve always worked my way up from 3-star stays to luxury hotels over the years, and this past weekend trip was no exception—especially since I was being mindful of post-Christmas spending. That’s why I decided to take a chance on Kore Tulum Retreat despite all the negative reviews online. Honestly, those one-star ratings feel completely unfair. The rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean, and incredibly comfortable. The location offered stunning sea views and a peaceful vibe—perfect for unwinding. I only had breakfast since I love exploring local spots, so I can’t speak much to the overall food quality. But the staff were excellent: as soon as I sat down, my coffee was poured. Once they noticed I tipped, I never had to wait in line for my omelets—haha! The real highlight was Victor, the front desk concierge. He looked like he stepped out of a Mexican soap opera and was consistently kind, helpful, and attentive. When I checked out with a late flight, he remembered I loved biking and let me keep my access bracelet until my shuttle arrived. That small gesture made a big difference. Yes, English-speaking staff were limited—something I experienced throughout Tulum—but it wasn’t unique to this property. If judged by strict AAA standards, this place might earn a 3–3.5 star rating, but most booking platforms would likely give it a solid 4. It’s not a Hyatt, but it delivers great value for what you get. Don’t let the one-star reviews scare you off—this is a genuinely nice stay if you’re looking for a calm, adults-only retreat with good service and a lovely ocean outlook.

I stayed for one night and absolutely fell in love with the place, so I ended up extending to two nights. It takes about 50 minutes to walk from the hotel to the beach, but trust me — it’s worth every step. The view is breathtaking, with crystal-clear water and soft white sand that feels like walking on a postcard. The hotel offers bike rentals, which made exploring the surrounding area super easy and fun. The vibe here is unique — artistic, relaxed, and full of character. Honestly, I’m already planning my next visit. This isn’t just a stay; it’s an experience.
Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa
The resort overall was an excellent experience—beautiful setting, great location, and friendly staff. However, there were a few areas that could use improvement. Several restaurants only opened on a rotating basis, with just two available daily, so we couldn’t try all the dining options. That said, it’s disappointing for a property of this caliber. More concerning was the cleanliness issue near our room—guests from the adjacent unit kept ordering meals, and leftover food was left in the hallway for days. A fork remained on the stairs for four full days with no one picking it up. The poolside snack bar served burgers and light bites for one day but was completely closed for two others while we were at the pool. Instead of service, we found scattered food remnants where birds were feeding, and no staff appeared to clean up. Only late in the afternoon did someone show up to collect the trash—but they didn’t even wipe down the counters or clean the grills. These lapses are hard to overlook for a resort that markets itself as top-tier. Despite these shortcomings, the rest of the stay was fantastic. With tighter operational oversight, this place could easily be flawless.

What stood out most was the location: just a short walk from downtown Tulum, making it easy to explore local restaurants, shops, and attractions. The value for money is outstanding—this place offers a premium experience without the premium price. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Tulum looking for a peaceful yet convenient stay. Would definitely come back.
Maison Tulum
This hotel is absolutely charming—feels like a peaceful little oasis surrounded by lush greenery. The location is perfect: just a short walk from the ADO bus station and right in the heart of Tulum’s vibrant area, with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. My room was thoughtfully equipped with a comfy bed, ample space for luggage, a small table with chairs, a mini kitchenette, a smart TV, reliable hot water, air conditioning, and free filtered water. The manager, Guillermo, went above and beyond—he took time to help me check bus and train schedules, even stored some of my belongings while I visited another city for a few days before returning for my last night in Tulum. I also loved the on-site café; the coffee was rich and aromatic, and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. This place truly stood out for its warmth, convenience, and attention to detail. I’d happily stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Tulum.

I’ve stayed at many boutique hotels around the world, but this one stands out for its balance of comfort, sustainability, and soul. Breakfast was generous and varied, especially the homemade jams and honey harvested on-site—so fresh and delicious! The location is ideal: just a short walk to the main street leading into Tulum, and there’s a supermarket nearby for essentials. Everything you need is within reach, making it super convenient for exploring the area. This place offers such great value and charm—definitely a highlight of our trip, and we’d happily return.

While the overall staff service could use a bit more consistency, one guest stood out: El Primo. His hospitality was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and genuinely went above and beyond. He made a real difference in our experience. If you're looking for a stress-free, fun-filled getaway in Tulum with great vibes, amazing food, and a personal touch, this is the place to be. Coco Hacienda Tulum is an absolute gem nestled right in the heart of Tulum, offering a serene escape from the bustling city. I highly recommend staying in one of the palapas—they’re spacious, private, and perfect for couples seeking intimacy. Everything about the stay was exceptional: comfortable beds, huge bathrooms with jetted tubs, ample parking, and complimentary bikes to explore the area. But what truly sets this place apart is the staff—their warm, attentive service is second to none. Special thanks to Elíseo, Christian, Felipe, Manuel, and the entire team for making our experience so memorable. They go above and beyond to ensure every guest feels welcomed and cared for. The beach is just a 5km drive away, where you can enjoy some of the most popular beach clubs in the area. With its peaceful vibe, incredible hospitality, and unbeatable location, this is 100% worth it. A must-visit for anyone looking for a tranquil yet vibrant retreat in Tulum.
