Then I stumbled upon Casa Malca on Xiaohongshu—a few posts, but the photos immediately stood out. It wasn’t flashy or mainstream. Instead, it felt like a quiet museum by the sea: minimalist, artistic, deeply atmospheric. There was something about it that screamed ‘escape’—and I knew instantly, this was the one. I booked three nights on the spot. Driving two hours from Cancún, I arrived tired and still carrying the weight of city life. I walked into the property with my guard up, still in serious mode. But as I made my way toward the lobby, the vibe shifted—calm, mysterious, immersive. And then came Yair, the front desk staff, whose warm, genuine smile (and striking looks!) instantly melted my stress. He greeted me like an old friend. This trip was actually for my birthday—a solo celebration—and the hotel had arranged a room upgrade and thoughtful touches I hadn’t even expected. It felt less like a booking and more like being welcomed into a private sanctuary. The breakfast was unreal: a perfectly cooked egg white omelette bursting with fresh, vibrant vegetables, beautifully presented. Even though I don’t usually eat pastries, the staff brought over a slice of carrot cake—so moist and rich, I ended up loving it. The pool area is stunningly designed, intimate, and full of character. Casa Malca feels tailor-made for weddings or small gatherings—there’s a real sense of privacy and ownership. But what truly made the experience special was Yair. The Beach Tulum Hotel truly delivered on its promise—everything was impeccable. The room was fantastic, with an incredibly comfortable bed and breathtaking views that made every moment feel like a postcard. Unfortunately, we visited during the sargassum season, which caused the water to turn brownish-red and sometimes carried a faint odor from decomposing seaweed along the shore. That said, I can only imagine how stunning the view must be when the beach is clear. The hotel features two excellent restaurants, and the meals were delicious and well-prepared. Despite the seasonal drawback, the overall experience was outstanding. It’s a perfect spot for a relaxing getaway if you’re looking for beauty, comfort, and great food.

The resort overall was an excellent experience—beautiful setting, great location, and friendly staff. However, there were a few areas that could use improvement. Several restaurants only opened on a rotating basis, with just two available daily, so we couldn’t try all the dining options. That said, it’s disappointing for a property of this caliber. More concerning was the cleanliness issue near our room—guests from the adjacent unit kept ordering meals, and leftover food was left in the hallway for days. A fork remained on the stairs for four full days with no one picking it up. The poolside snack bar served burgers and light bites for one day but was completely closed for two others while we were at the pool. Instead of service, we found scattered food remnants where birds were feeding, and no staff appeared to clean up. Only late in the afternoon did someone show up to collect the trash—but they didn’t even wipe down the counters or clean the grills. These lapses are hard to overlook for a resort that markets itself as top-tier. Despite these shortcomings, the rest of the stay was fantastic. With tighter operational oversight, this place could easily be flawless.

Staying at Azura Boutique Hotel was an absolute delight, especially the two-bedroom apartment which felt like a spacious home away from home. From the moment we walked in, the air-conditioned living area welcomed us with generous space—two sofas and a large dining table for six fit perfectly into this open, airy room. The TV worked flawlessly, and I appreciated being able to plug in my USB device. Free Wi-Fi was strong and reliable throughout our stay. Both bedrooms were comfortably air-conditioned, with plush beds and pillows that made for excellent sleep. Each room came with its own en-suite bathroom featuring powerful showers and 24-hour hot water—no cold surprises here. There’s also a well-stocked vanity with extra toiletries, a chest of drawers, and a built-in wall unit with ample storage for clothes and luggage. Even better, there’s an additional drawer space for anything else you might bring along. Plus, fresh towels, clean bedding, and a safe were provided—storage wasn’t an issue at all. The kitchen is fully equipped if you want to cook or self-cater: gas stove, fridge, microwave, plates, cutlery, cups, and a coffee machine with complimentary pods and tea bags delivered daily. Though a kettle would’ve been nice, everything else was top-notch. What really stood out was the daily cleaning—towels, linens, soaps, shampoos, toilet paper, lotions, and kitchen surfaces were all refreshed every day. My son and his girlfriend stayed in the smaller one-bedroom unit (no kitchen), but it was still very spacious and well-appointed with AC, Wi-Fi, TV, mini-fridge, coffee machine, and even a fold-out sofa bed when needed. The hotel’s location is unbeatable—just 200 meters from Tulum’s main street, with a local Oxxo store right across the road. The rooftop features two charming little plunge pools and is the only designated smoking area—perfect for relaxing with a drink while enjoying the view. Staff spoke limited English but were always friendly and eager to help, whether arranging taxis or planning excursions. Yes, the price is on the higher side—around £170–200 per night for the two-bedroom, and £140–150 for the single bedroom—but honestly, it was worth every penny. This place feels special, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly well-maintained. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, privacy, and a touch of luxury in Tulum.
