The rooms are quiet and cozy, and the breakfast was exceptional—fresh, locally sourced, and beautifully presented. What really stood out was the location: right outside the front door is a bus stop with frequent service to the city center, making exploring easy and stress-free. This isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s an experience. I’d absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

Staying at Allison House 16 in Edinburgh was an absolute delight. The place itself is spotlessly clean and very quiet, which made for a peaceful and restful stay. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, going out of their way to make us feel at home. It’s clear they take pride in what they offer, and every detail reflects that care. I couldn’t recommend this guest house more highly—it’s a true gem in Edinburgh, offering comfort, convenience, and a warm atmosphere all in one. Would definitely return.
Edinburgh Regency Guest House
I stayed at Edinburgh Regency Guest House during a really tough time, and I can't recommend it for anyone. The staff were polite enough, but the owner clearly doesn’t care about guests’ wellbeing. The rooms are extremely run-down — peeling paint, worn-out furniture, and poor maintenance everywhere. I found signs of rodents and even had worms come out of the shower tray, which was deeply unsettling. I was told it wasn’t harmful to my kids, but how can you trust that when the place is so neglected? There were also uninvited individuals staying there, and my children witnessed and overheard disturbing things — completely unacceptable for a family-friendly space. The owner claims he’d never live in these conditions with his own family, but if that’s true, why allow such a place to operate this way? It’s clear money is the only priority here. This isn’t just a bad stay — it’s unsafe, unsanitary, and utterly disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, especially not with children.

Unite Students - Salisbury Court
Staying at Salisbury Court was an absolute delight, especially with my mom and 9-year-old kid. From the warm welcome to the super helpful checkout process, every interaction was friendly and efficient. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the room spotless, and having access to a kitchen and shared lounge made our stay so much more enjoyable—especially getting to chat with a grandmother and her daughter from the Netherlands! Despite being quite full, it stayed peaceful and quiet throughout our visit. The location was perfect—we were close to Arthur’s Seat, could easily hail a cab to and from the train station, and even enjoyed a nice walk into the city center. It’s rare to find such a well-located, clean, and welcoming place with great amenities and a relaxed vibe. Highly recommend for families or travelers looking for comfort and convenience in Edinburgh.

We arrived at The Valentine and were warmly greeted by Monica, who was incredibly friendly and immediately offered some great local walking suggestions. The room was spacious and inviting—bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, making for a restful night’s sleep. The bathroom was recently renovated, beautifully designed, and everything worked perfectly. Located just a short walk from the city center, we were surrounded by fantastic restaurants and lively bars. A wonderful park was only a 3-minute stroll away—perfect for a relaxing evening stroll. If we ever return to Edinburgh, we’d definitely choose this hotel again. Huge thanks to the entire team at The Valentine for such a welcoming and memorable stay. Edinburgh is a stunning, safe city with friendly locals—truly a gem of a destination!

Breakfast was simple but delicious, and they always had extras ready to refill—super thoughtful. I appreciated the little touches like toilet paper, dry shampoo, and adapters available throughout the common areas. It’s these small details that make a big difference. Located just a 10-minute bus ride from Edinburgh city center, it’s actually very walkable too—especially if you enjoy a scenic stroll through quiet streets. Special shoutout to Duncan, the owner—he’s genuinely kind, helpful, and always ready to lend a hand or share local tips. I can’t imagine coming back to Edinburgh without staying here again.
