The Scholar

Staying at The Scholar was an absolute delight! The hotel is just a short walk from Edinburgh Castle, with bus stops only five stops away—just a quick 8-pound Uber ride if you're in a rush. The atmosphere is calm and elegant, and it feels like part of the University of Edinburgh’s exchange center. The property consists of several three- to four-story buildings, and my room was in a charming older wing—comfortable, spacious, and beautifully maintained. The cleanliness stood out immediately—everything was spotless, and the bathroom felt more like a boutique hotel than a standard accommodation. The shower setup was impressive, with strong water pressure and high-quality fixtures that reminded me of top-tier international hotels. There’s also a coffee machine in the room—perfect for a cozy morning brew. But what truly blew me away was breakfast: a full à la carte experience. I got to choose between classic Scottish haggis, vegetarian haggis, and other delicious options. The flavors were authentic and well-prepared—so good I almost wanted to extend my stay just to try everything again. It’s rare to find such thoughtful details in a city hotel, and this place delivers on comfort, convenience, and culinary quality. Highly recommended for travelers who value authenticity and a little extra luxury.

The room was spacious and impeccably clean, with an incredibly comfortable bed that made for a restful night’s sleep. Despite being a bit outside the city center, getting to major attractions like Princes Street is easy—just a 20-minute bus ride away, and buses run frequently. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful, making check-in smooth and stress-free. What really stood out was the excellent value for money; you get a high-quality stay without the premium price tag. If you're looking for a quiet, well-maintained hotel in Edinburgh with great convenience and comfort, this one is definitely worth considering.

Bruntsfield Hotel, WorldHotels Elite

Staying at Bruntsfield Hotel was hands down the best hotel experience I've had in Edinburgh. The room was spacious and wonderfully warm, with a cozy heater and a luxurious bathtub—perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. I especially appreciated the thoughtful touches like a small bottle of whisky and chocolates left in the room. Breakfast was excellent, and I loved that they offered hot options. The location is ideal—just a short walk or quick transit ride to all major attractions. Yes, the windows are a bit small, but the view from them is absolutely stunning. Overall, this place offers incredible value for money, with elegant surroundings and exceptional service. I’d definitely stay here again.

Kingsley Guest House

We absolutely loved our stay at Kingsley Guest House in Edinburgh. The location is quiet yet incredibly convenient—just steps from multiple bus stops, making it easy to explore the city without hassle. Alan and Alison were warm, welcoming hosts who made us feel right at home, and we even got to meet their lovely little companion, Mr. Tom. Our room was perfectly sized with a modern bathroom, ample closet space, and a cozy bed that promised a restful night’s sleep. Breakfast was a highlight—Alan happily prepared exactly what we wanted, showing great flexibility and attention to detail. Within a 10-15 minute walk (or short bus ride), we found a variety of restaurants and grocery stores, so getting essentials or enjoying local eats was effortless. Everything about this B&B felt thoughtfully designed for comfort and convenience. We’d return in a heartbeat—highly recommended!

Braid Hills Hotel

The Braid Hills Hotel offers a fantastic location—perfect for exploring Edinburgh without needing to worry about parking. We took the bus into the city centre, which was super convenient. The hotel itself is clean and well-maintained, even if it has a bit of vintage charm with its slightly worn character. That said, it’s part of what makes the place feel unique and welcoming. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. It’s not flashy, but it delivers great value and a genuine local vibe. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable, authentic experience in Edinburgh.

Emmaus Guest House Edinburgh

We stayed at this five-bedroom, five-bathroom house for three nights and found it great for our large group. Since we were out most of the day, the unreliable Wi-Fi wasn’t a major issue—but when we were actually at home, the connection was frustratingly weak or completely dropped. The bathrooms were inconsistent too: some rooms had spacious ones, but the top-floor bedroom shared a tiny bathroom with barely any room to place toiletries—everything had to go on the floor. Also, the TVs were only portable-sized, which felt underwhelming for the price point. For a property like this, decent-sized TVs and reliable internet should be standard. Overall, the house was functional and spacious enough for a family or group, but the lack of proper amenities made the experience feel a bit disappointing given the cost.

The bathroom was equally tidy, and the beds were wonderfully comfortable, making for a restful night’s sleep. Located in a quiet neighborhood just a short walk from the city center, it offers the perfect balance between peace and convenience. What stood out most was the personalized recommendations—she shared great spots nearby for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which made exploring the area so much easier. It's clear she genuinely cares about her guests' experience. This stay was nothing short of excellent, and I’d happily return. Highly recommend!

The Ben Doran Guest House

Staying at The Ben Doran Guest House felt like stepping into a piece of Edinburgh's history. The exterior is modest, but inside, it’s a charming Georgian townhouse with over 300 years of character—original woodwork, elegant furnishings, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes it perfect for a relaxing break. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, sharing fascinating stories about the building’s past. The rooms are quiet and cozy, and the breakfast was exceptional—fresh, locally sourced, and beautifully presented.
