Aparthotel Vertical
We stayed overnight at the Aparthotel Vertical in St. Petersburg, booking the Popova apartment for a team of seven athletes plus our coach. The space was more than sufficient for eight people—no crowding at all—and the photos truly matched reality. The soundproofing in the unit is excellent; even with loud music outside, we couldn’t hear anything when the door was closed. The kitchenette is fully equipped with a sink, stove, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, cutlery, and a complete set of dishes—including dessert plates, dinner plates, and a salad bowl—for everyone. Everything was clean and well-maintained. Bed linens were crisp white and fresh, and the pillows and duvet provided great comfort. One small note: the upper-level bedrooms felt a bit warm during the night. Adding an air conditioner or installing a skylight-style window could help improve ventilation. The hotel also features a Belgian restaurant with an impressive selection of Belgian beers. You can access it either from inside the building or directly from the street—a convenient touch. Staff at reception were friendly and helpful. In the lobby, right across from the front desk, there’s a large aquarium filled with turtles and other aquatic life. If you’re waiting to check in, it’s nice to just relax and watch the fish swim around. Overall, the stay left a very positive impression. I’d definitely recommend this place to friends and would happily return.

We've visited Matisov Domik twice now and are already counting down the days to return. From the moment we arrived, everything felt thoughtfully designed — spotless rooms, genuine hospitality, and a serene atmosphere that made us feel truly at home. Each guest received bottled water upon arrival, plus a cozy robe — small touches that made a big difference. The lobby is beautifully adorned with art, giving the place an elegant, cultural vibe. Breakfast was exceptional — diverse, delicious, and always satisfying, especially the mouthwatering baked casserole. They even cooked eggs to order when requested. The rooms are incredibly quiet, thanks to excellent sound insulation, and the beds and pillows provided a restful night's sleep every time. There’s also private parking on-site, which is a huge plus for those traveling by car. We were pleasantly surprised by the included dinner — such a convenient and welcoming gesture. On our first visit, we checked in late at night, and the staff kindly packed a takeaway dinner for us at checkout the next morning. That unexpected care really stood out — proof of their professionalism and attention to detail. It felt like being treated like valued guests, leaving behind warm memories and a strong desire to come back again.
